A hockey stick won't kill you. It won't even almost kill you.

Oh, er, yea I'm sorry. I forgot I'm conversing with somebody who was almost decapitated by a flying stick!

Are you guys serious? Even tripping while walking can kill you if you're unlucky. Why are people arguing against a flying blunt object being harmless?

Yes, if you were hit by a heavier object it could have been very dangerous. As it is, a hockey stick to the head is only capable of causing a linear fracture which is as harmless as a stubbed toe.

Is this real life?

Well, whatever man, no use to argue with you. Just continue your 'superiority' rhetoric, see how far that gets you.

You know, the majority of us Canadian fans congratulated Russia on a very well played game (including myself) but this sounds like sour grapes to me. The game was fiercely fought right down to the very end. Very exiting hockey by the world's two best teams. Of course there are going to be *******s on each side of the border but say that a loud patriotic crowd is directly responsible for another teams loss is absorb! There is such a thing as the 7-man but players play the game, not the fans.
Edit: Oh yeah, that Russian kid who threw the stick is a real meathead! Senseless action!

Whoops my bad...somebody threw a stick eh?...I didn't read thru the thread...I thought people were commenting about some sort of stick swinging incident, didn't even think about what thread I was in...

As an aside...Petan took an elbow to the head and seemed, in hindsight, to be hurt, as folk's been discussing elsewhere

Just a note: modern sticks weigh virtually nothing compared to what those guys were wielding.

Yeah I thought of that...plus today's sticks have more give...Still if u catch the guy right, u never know...after all they propel a puck pretty good...

***

Off Topic...but remember that kid ( in Italy was it? ) died after taking a puck to the chest? Fluke injuries happen , and of course, they're not, in the main, foreseeable.

Record breaking figures for TSN. 7.1 million average, with 13.4 million viewers tuning in.

Overall 19.4 million Canadians tuned in to the World Juniors during this holiday season.

55% of the country.

Unreal.

Barbershoppe, as I've posted earlier, I don't want to get involved in these arguments. Canada deserved the win and got gold, Russia played very well too. No need to eat each other here. Enough said.

I have a question

Why is that every time Canada wins the Gold its always an epic win but when we lose its never an epic lost? :sarcasm:

Canadas weak side is their pace> They rushing for 5-8 minutes of begining periods and then they become slow. Good goalie give opponent good chance against them. Their speed is perfect but this temporary rushing style exhausting them. Russia plays 1 temp style and can strangle an opponent in the same rhythm that works with Canadians but not as effective against defensive teams. Coaches must work at it

:D every lost - "We havent our best propects" , "Who do care about 3 d place" and etc etc.
In russia losses much more hurt for players. People begining blame them and coaches and no one is looking for excuses

It's not like those sticks are made of foam. Kassian shattered Gagner's face with one not long ago.

When you play Canada you know what to expect, we will hit you thats Canada's game has been since always, its forecheck and hit everything that moves, especially on a small ice.

We're talking about a hockey stick flying through the air, not a full grown athlete swinging a hockey stick at someone's head.

Whatever the outcome of throwing the stick - can you at least acknowledge that the act is against the rules? And shouldn't have been done???

Tripping and falling won't kill you either. It can, but it won't.

See my meaning here?

The noise from a hockey game can trigger an aneurysm that kills you but that doesn't mean that going to a hockey game is life threatening.

Already did:

And just to clarify, I am not condoning the act of throwing your stick into the crowd. Obviously that's reckless and stupid. Even if it's not a life threatening risk, it can still cause injury which is best prevented.

Unlike KHL, NHL won't release many of our U20 top guns...so our excuses, while tiresome to Russian ears, are not without merit...Guys Like McDavid are one and done as 17 year olds...How good would a phenom like McDavid, or Crosby in his day, look at this tourney as a 19 year old? And how would u Russians like it, if the table were reversed? ...Not that, u don't miss the odd kid...But its not that common for you...

I just don't think he is as good as people think when he loses all that time and space. Not saying he's a bad player I just figured he wouldn't be an impact at all against a stronger team. I'm entitled to my opinion and if you didn't care what I had to say you wouldn't of answered. I saw he got hurt and I mentioned that in one of my posts, but if he was hurt so badly to play the way he was he shouldn't have been on the ice. He'll be a good player and have a good career, just the way people said McDavid had to step up against a good team I knew he would and I figured Petan would disappear but no one was calling him out. So I did, deal with it.

Because other people are smart

Those excuses aren´t without merit, but still they are excuses.

So true...But here's the rub...WE WON ...16 World Junior Golds Babyyy...read em and weep :D

Besides, U Russians are still whining about a hook by Dale Hawerchuk in the final game of the 1987 Canada Cup...leading to Mario's series clinching goal. So it's not like Russians don't make excuses ad nauseam eh? ;)
