So true...But here's the rub...WE WON ...16 World Junior Golds Babyyy...read em and weep :D

Besides, U Russians are still whining about a hook by Dale Hawerchuk in the final game of the 1987 Canada Cup...leading to Mario's series clinching goal. So it's not like Russians don't make excuses ad nauseam eh? ;)

Look at the flag beneath my username.

Unlike KHL, NHL won't release many of our U20 top guns...so our excuses, while tiresome to Russian ears, are not without merit...Guys Like McDavid are one and done as 17 year olds...How good would a phenom like McDavid, or Crosby in his day, look at this tourney as a 19 year old? And how would u Russians like it, if the table were reversed? ...Not that, u don't miss the odd kid...But its not that common for you...

If only there was a year when nhl would have some kind of dispute...I don't know, about money or something and that would allow everyone to participate.

I wonder what would happen in that hypothetical situation....I guess we'll never know.

Well done!
That post made me laugh out loud.

We're talking about a hockey stick flying through the air, not a full grown athlete swinging a hockey stick at someone's head.
[snip] Player is a ****** and is lucky nobody was hurt or he'd likely be arrested and charged.

so this is little vid for you were y can see canadian divers including Grezky
But sure - These are all you forgot for sure. Hockey nation didnt remember that things - these are exuses for looser:D This game must was revenge for CC 81 result 8-1 USSR beat Canada. Here you can see that all canadian stars need a huge referees help to beat Ussr

I have a question

Why is that every time Canada wins the Gold its always an epic win but when we lose its never an epic lost? :sarcasm:

Not really. That game we were down 6-1 and lost 6-5 was pretty epic. Any gold medals we win say 5-0, they're not epic. They're dominant but I wouldn't call the game epic by any stretch of the imagination.

there are way too many kids here, mulling stupid stuff over, it was a great game worthy of one of the best finals I had seen in junior hockey.

So by the way Canada never give UP and nobody thinks about it/ It in its their blood

I remember the silver medal winning St Kitts Fincups circa 1977 or 8, led by Dale McCourt, down smthg like 5 or 6 nothing to the Russians , after one period! ( and in one of the first official World Juniors ) mounted a furious comeback vs Russia that fell just short, back when we only sent club teams/last year's Memorial Cup champs to this event...that's how far back my memory goes

Thank you....post of the new year here!

A very enjoyable game to watch....and the Russians finally laid to rest the silly notion that Euro teams lack guts and heart...this Russian team was the epitome of a never say die group of warriors.

Congrats to Canada...a very well put together team featuring the most speed and skill of any team save the one your nation assembled in 2005.

After seeing the kid throw the stick into the crowd after the game ended, I feel a little foolish for congratulating Russia on their class (outside of the taunts at the player's bench).

Looks like I spoke too soon.

I guess I should have known.

Russian fans will try and blow it off as no big deal, he's just a kid, blah blah blah. Yeah, what a load of garbage. That is a bush league act and I promise you this...if a Canadian kid did that, I would hope that Hockey Canada would come down on him like a ton of bricks and that his own dad would give him a kick in the ass.

I suppose this type of thing is normal in Russia, but it doesn't fly here.

Maybe so...But as an old timer , I can attest, Team Canada hasn't always been choir boyz either, and those Russians, in the main, still seem to think well of us anyway, plus look back at those old battles fondly ...**** happens eh? Boyz will be Boyz:naughty:

So many posts last night, couldn't keep up.

Just wanted to say great game and congrats to Canada!

I got to attend my first WJC game ever (Denmark v Switzerland) and had such an incredible time. We drove up from Baltimore just to attend the game and it was such a party in the ACC, can't wait until it comes around to Canada again, will definitely go again.

As long as you cheer for the Ravens and Orioles you will be allowed back in Canada. :):):):)

Fair enough, we have had our share of meatheads, too. I would like to think in this day and age that junk gets dealt with, not defended.

I am an old timer, too, btw. ;)

I read that somebody was hurt and that the victim was in contact with Toronto Police after the game. So it's possible that the player may face charges. I think it depends on whether the victim wants to press them or not.

I believe your story is true. I also believe you are exaggerating the extent of your injury. You were 9 years old, and your parents were probably terrified. That's what you remember.

The reality of it is, you were never in any serious danger.
You know this how? Also anyone that thinks a flying hockey stick is harmless how about you volunteer to stand in the way when someone flings a stick at you. You won't think it's so harmless if it hits you.

I swear some of the arguments here are mind numbingly...well you know. The fans were too loud, cheered too much?

This will be right for this stupid action

There were 3 different NHL lockout years, where Canada assembled, in theory, its best possible WJ teams. In 2013 we didn't fare well...But in Red Deer in 1995 our Boyz went undefeated, and in Grand Forks 2005 out Boyz kicked EVERYONE's BUTT!

Winning 2 outa 3 , best on best, World Jr Tourneys, plus going undefeated twice, seems pretty good to me...Moreover, I think that pretty much proves the point many Canucks have been making...

We didn't have our best possible team ( although damn near, think we were missing ME Vlasic, Jordan Staal and one other kid ) when we played Russia's best Jr's in that Jr. Summit Series, but we still went 7Wins 0 losses I tie...Again, I think its fair to say, based on past history, albeit a small sample size, that in MOST best on best Jr Tourney's Team Canada will do rather well!

Tripping and falling won't kill you either. It can, but it won't.

See my meaning here?

The noise from a hockey game can trigger an aneurysm that kills you but that doesn't mean that going to a hockey game is life threatening.

Those aren't even remotely in the same realm, and you know it. Throwing a ******* stick into the crowd should net you a suspension, and arguing against that is ridiculous.

I'm willing to bet if this tournament was in Russia, and a Canadian player threw a stick into the crowd, this place would lose it's mind and posters such as yourself would be calling for his head.
