Shame that we had our four best players away from the final. Not to take anything away from Canada, they were great.

I'll always hold a special place for this team, best Olympic team I've witnessed. The heart, work ethic and acceptance of their roles was very admirable.

Great game, here's the summary

TOEWS (EARLY RISING PARENTS, BACKYARD RINK BUILDERS, TIRELESS FUND RAISERS, COACHES & TRAINERS, PREGAME MEAL-MAKERS, KINDLY BUSINESS SPONSORS, TRUSTY CARPOOLERS, PLAY-BY-PLAY ANNOUNCERS, CROWD IGNITERS, STATISTICIANS, ORGAN PLAYERS, INSPIRATIONAL SIGN-MAKERS, GRANDPARENTS, SCOUTS, SKATE-SHARPENERS, PHONE-FINGER FANATICS)

2nd period
15:43 CANADA S. CROSBY (UNASSISTED)

3rd period

SVERIGE. Hold your heads high, played with a depleted roster.
It feels good to have both our teams repeat as gold medallists in hockey.
Our defense won the tournament for us, this was coupled with a tenacious back-check by the forwards. When possession was gained, it was sustained to great results for the red and white.

The Quick Transition outa our zone and back onto the attack, attack, attack was a thing of beauty....Hardly gave the Swedes a sniff in 3rd. & Even on their few and far between forays into our zone...CAREY WAS THERE!

I see what you did there.

Outright dominance top to bottom. Everyone on the roster was terrific defensively and everyone chipped in with timely offense when needed. The best team I've ever seen live.

No, that's the point. Canada won the Gold because they can lose Tavares and Stamkos - better players than Sweden lost - and still have enough depth to dominate the competition.

If they had lost Crosby, Toews and Getzlaff, but had Stamkos and Tavares, they'd still have the best depth.

You're basically saying, "Sweden only lost because Canada has many more better hockey players than any other country"

okay!
Listen here. The situation for team Sweden has nothing, I repeat, absolutely nothing to do with Canada. Even though it seems impossible for some of you to realize the sun does not revolve around Canada, that is the case.

If we say "it really sucks we missed so many key players", the automatic response is, "well duh, so did Canada". Where the **** does Canada come into the picture regarding the situation for Sweden? Nowhere. So get off your high horses and let us lick our wounds of "could've, should've" in peace.

Great performance by team Canada. Well done boys, very well deserved.

Congratulations to team Sweden, you played with heart throughout this tournament, you have a very respected team with loads of talent. Congrats to Finland on winning the Bronze medal, also very well deserved.

Americans have nothing to be ashamed of IMO, I liked your team and the offensive flare they possessed. And as a Leaf fan, I'm so happy that my man Kessel and JVR return back to Toronto un-injured.

Good tournament all. Peace!

This makes up for the last four World Juniors.

Congrats to Sweden, they definitely had their chances. And as dominant as our D was, I'd have been even more nervous if H. Sedin, Zetterberg and Backstrom were in the lineup.

Guys like you will never get it, do you? When you have Bryan Little centering your 1st line because of injuries, it's the equivalent of a small country losing their entire center depth. You have 3 players on every position to step in, that is not the case for anyone else.

So Canada has more hockey depth then. It's just another reason we won gold. If a team can't handle a couple injuries they don't deserve to win.

I'm not trying to be a ***** but I hate when people use injuries as an excuse. They happen to everyone. Better teams get the job done in spite of it.

Canada with pretty 'meh' celebration.. Why's that? Usually you rush with joy from bench towards your goalie but they just slided slowly to Price.

Thats who we are.

Its why Don Cherry gets mad when Ovechkin and Yakupov overly celebrate.

Its considered rude in our culture, we already have the gold, no need to rub it in right in that moment.

Canada was just dominating throughout this tournament. Has to be the best of the five gold medal winnners since NHLers became involved.

You do realize that the defense is so good because of their forwards, who are the best two way group in the entire game.

Part right. The Canadian D and goalie, as well as the forwards, all contributed to a GREAT team D. The scoring stars on the front line left the egos behind and chipped in at both ends of the ice.

Not really.

Congrats to Sweden on their strong performance throughout the tournament.
