Canada with pretty 'meh' celebration.. Why's that? Usually you rush with joy from bench towards your goalie but they just slided slowly to Price.
This just felt like it was expected and business as usual

From 2002 to 2010 to now, this is by far the most unexciting gold medal, by far

2014 Olympics now a success!

Curling double GOLD

Hockey double GOLD

WE ARE WINTER!!!!!!!

Guys like you will never get it, do you? When you have Bryan Little centering your 1st line because of injuries, it's the equivalent of a small country losing their entire center depth. You have 3 players on every position to step in, that is not the case for anyone else.

No, that's the point. Canada won the Gold because they can lose Tavares and Stamkos - better players than Sweden lost - and still have enough depth to dominate the competition.

If they had lost Crosby, Toews and Getzlaff, but had Stamkos and Tavares, they'd still have the best depth.

You're basically saying, "Sweden only lost because Canada has many more better hockey players than any other country"

okay!

you have to give credit to the depth tho... guys like giroux thornton Staal would be contesting for first 1 C on Sweden and they are not even part of canada's team

The defense won Canada the gold. Not goaltenders, or offenseman
The entire team won Canada the gold. That offense was in charge of keeping possession and they did that brilliantly against Sweden. Price had to make some tough saves and also made every easy save as well.

majority of the team was there in 2010...in Canada, facing adversity (tied Switzerland and had to win in a shootout, demolished Russia in a legendary quarter final..rematch with USA in the final...blowing a 2-0 lead in a game Canada was dominating, Crosby golden goal..)

Good tournament, Swedes.

Glad some of this animosity between Swedish and Canadian fans can die down now.
Also nice to see that having a Canadian official didn't ruin the game, like a few people were saying. Played out just fine.

Anyway, glad to see Sweden get the silver because if Canada was out at any point, I'd be cheering them on as usual.

The win's a little bittersweet, too. Seeing Canada's celebration was kind of lame. Swedes appreciate that medal way more than Canadians.
Canada actually looked happier beating the US.

As good as the defence is, any shot on net has a chance of going in. When you are protecting a 1 goal lead, it's 10x worse. You are right, he didn't steal them a game, but in the most important games it was literally impossible for him to do any better.

Why? He hasn't needed to be clutch or steal a game.

It should be Doughty or Weber.

Without Price, i dont think Canada gets by the U.S. At least in regulation time. Price was as big in that game as anybody else.

With that said, I think Doughty would be a good choice as Canada's MVP.

The older you get, the more you realize that sports are just entertainment.

Sure you still experience some highs and lows, but it's nothing like it is when you are younger.

You also realize how silly it is to gloat that your team won. You can be happy, sure. But there's no need to be smug about it. At the end of the day, the team you liked scored more goals or put more points on the board than the other team. That's all.

Really when you boil it down, at the end of the day, some atomic particles moved and collided. That's all.

Hmm. Interesting interview with the Swedish coach. He seems furious that Backstrom couldn't play, he says it's a scandal, and it does seem to have affected the team "they're only humans" as he said. Kind of reminds me when Ulf Samuelsson couldn't play in 1998 and the team made a horrible effort against Finland after that and lost. I don't think the outcome had been different if Backstrom had played, but we would have seen better Swedish play. Sad it went that way.
