WC: GOLD: Finland vs Canada

Are we still talking about the 2022 Vadim Shipachyov Tournament of NHL Dropouts? or the fact you just don't like the tournament's quality being mocked when it's a Canadian doing it?
But the thing is that some Canadians (like you) mock the tournament only when Canada loses the final. You are nowhere to be seen if Canada wins 😅

we're nowhere to be seen when we win because we usually don't know it's on

Strange comment considering the content of my post. No crying here just responding to the irony of your post. I should also keep in mind English is likely your second language. Perhaps you're just having trouble with understanding what I wrote.
Keep filling them bottles for me

Thanks. :thumbu:

Well luckily someone told Barzal and Chabot.
The reason I'm in this thread was to make fun of how bad Barzal was playing in the 2nd period lol

Win or Lose- I do not lose any sleep over Canada not winning the WHC. It is a tournament European fans care about, while in North America we are too busy watching the Stanley Cup Finals. We always send our C Team, while Europeans send their A or B teams, since they care more about the tournament. Today's Gold Medal Game was the first Game I have watched Team Canada play.

That being said if the roles were reversed, and Canada had won the Gold Medal on home ice today, with a terrible high sticking call, that cost us two goals along with a OT Dive by a Finnish Player leading to the Gold Medal Winner on a PP- I would be the first to say Canada should not be pumping their chest out and saying "We are the Best". All the other countries and their fans would be screaming that Canada probably paid off the officials, if the roles were reversed.

Yet Finland fans on Social Media have no problem pumping their chest, and calling Canadian fans sore losers, since they beat Canada's C Team with their A team, with the most corrupt officiating I have ever seen in a Gold Medal Final. Also, unfortunately our Starting Goalie also got hurt, and Finland had to face our Backup Goalie.

Maybe the European officials had money on Finland winning on home ice, or maybe they are tired of Canada winning this European tournament again with our C Team. Even the OT Penalty against Canada, was more of a Soccer Dive by the Finnish player. I have never complained about the Refs, but the missed calls against Finland and the penalties that Finland were rewarded, makes me think that this Game was already decided yesterday.

The IIHF officials probably wanted the European home team to win in their home country, and the celebrations that will take place afterwards. The officials wanted the story book ending for Finland. I feel sick for Sillinger, since there was no high stick by him against the Finnish player. Even the OT call to me was a Dive by the Finnish player. Today's game is the reason why Canada should never host this Minor League Tournament, with its minor league officiating.
This pretty much underlines the bubble you live in Canada just watching dope league games and dreaming best of best tournaments you don’t even allow players to go because it’s all about money.

When ever you lose the game as a Tam Canada there are always these excuses:
a) refs
b) we don’t care
c) we had Team C.

Every fricking time.

And the only way you think it’s equal for every country is mainly when the tournament is played best of best, small rink, with NHL refs, maybe with long possible commercial breaks so that McDavid can play 30min. What else? Oh yes, let’s put German, Swiss, Danish, French, Norwegian, Slovakian and Slovenian to play as a one team because they are well some left over Europeans. And at the same time you call IIHF as a joke.

I give you an advice: come this side. Enjoy the games, tournaments, hockey uniting the world. Having reason to celebrate more often… not just during the Olympic wins, 1967, 1988 or 1993.

It’s ridicilous to invent the game and take it as only your property. You Canadian would have so much to give in hockey but you rather stay cocky, kind of difining which hockey is the real hockey and which is not.

Come one day to Europe. Go to see hockey game in German or Switzerland and learn how people can chant something else than Go Leafs Go. Come out of your stinky bubble my friend.

Edit: And yes, I am a Finn and I am thinking we have so much to learn about hockey culture from Sweden, German and Switzerland. Also Czechia, Slovakia and Latvia.

Maybe the Swedish hockey association should look more carefully which refs they send to these tournaments? Mikael Nord was sent home prematurely from the 2015 tournament when he gave Leo Komarov a match penalty for kneeing in the Finland-Slovenia game. Replays showed there wasn't even contact. He apologized publicly for it. And they still sent him again.

I don't know whether this was already posted here, but the viewership numbers in Finland for that game were just insane.

Unique viewers: 3.03 million
Average number of viewers throughout the game: 2.35 million
View percentage (% of all tv viewers watching the game instead of some other channel): over 90 % at best

Mind you, our whole capita is 5.55 million. So well over half of the population were watching the game. Hopefully this helps Canadians to understand how much we care about this tournament and why WHC golds are important for us. Hence some Finnish posters may get carried away.

Canada sends their C or Z teams and yet they have 3 players (Barzal, PLD and Chabot) who'd be on their best on best team.

Meanwhile Finland and Sweden had like 2 or 3 guys aswell :D They should re-think before wrinting nonsense, we've won this tournament 3 times now with a scrub team on our standards aswell.

it was a freaking dive,, come on now, just like in soccer
It sure looked like it. Haven't had a chance to watch it again after the game. But If it indeed was a dive, that was extremely stupid thing to do from Björninen.
There was atleast 50-50 chance that it would not have been called and it would've been a breakaway and very likely goal and championship to Canada.
It would've been one of the most embarrassing things ever.
Diving is always embarrassing, belongs to soccer not hockey.

Nobody thinks Finnish people shouldn't care nor is anyone confused as to why they do

You sure the reason isn´t you being here isn´t that you are unhappy and in denial that you lost?

Enjoy the silver. It suits you :)
because you guys keep replying to me lol

I posted the screenshot in the post you just replied to dummy
Why so triggered little one? No need for name calling, eh?

Can confirm that nobody in Canada really cares about the tournament. That said I personally always enjoy seeing other countries have international success. Its only good for the game.
