Reffing is part of the game. Finns have had their share of getting shafted by the refs as well. It sucks but it is what it is. Our third goal might as well have been 2 minutes for cross checking Heiskanen face first into the goal post so there's that, too. I realize it's a hard call to make but it would have been the correct call.
Sure. But if all the correct calls were made, that incident never happens, because the game is much different without that 5-on-3.

That's why it's important to get every call correct. Or, at the very least, every significant call correct. Any miscall as blatant as that high stick effects not just that moment but every moment after.

We have the technology to do it. And those saying the delays would be worse probably didn't even realize the delay from all the controversy itself took more time than simply reviewing they play would have.

Get the calls right. It shouldn't be that much to ask.

There must be about 3.5 - 4 million Finns taking part to this, someway. In live, online, following, watching, or what ever.

At least 1.5 million of them are already intoxicated.

Of Population of 5.54 Million.

Think about it.
It's pretty unique to be winning with this formula. feels pretty f***ing good
Doesn't matter to me much that it's b-team vs cd-team

It shouldn't be.
It has been part of the game every NHL game I have ever seen. And there have been plenty.

And even though that double-slash of Sillinger was not worth of penalty on finals, and obviously not a high sticking, there are similar mistakes by referees in almost every NHL game.

That 3-2 video review stuff was farce on many levels including waving that goal off at first, but then also missing the cross check by Canadian forward that caused the net to move in the first place. But again, didn't affect the game too much.

They’re allowed if you’re Finnish, sure. If you’re Canadian it’s a double minor
Take your ball and go home. Mummy will give you a hug to feel better.

Finland has been to the finals four times in a row now, including the Olympics. They have won three of those. That's not a coincidence. Once you have had a good crying on mommas shoulder, contemplate that.

Agreed.

Though in context of this tournament, Manninen and Armia were just awesome.

Everyone that has followed Armia closely can remember how he has had some burst of greatness on NHL too for like 5-10 games on a row before again falling back into that ~3rd line guy. He has that high upside even though he usually plays bottom-6 hockey.

Manninen was the biggest surprise for me this tournament. That guy is worth of a NHL contract.
The thing should be that individual talent doesn't matter, especially in short tournaments like this. Yes, maybe Manninen did have a consistent 10 game stretch, but Finland won because they had a team full of players who bought into the system and worked hard. Canada almost beat them because they did the same thing. It really doesn't matter who has the more talented players. It's about who has the better team.

I'll still argue that Canada's team at this tournament was at least on-par with Finland, even with the result, and even if that result was completely untainted. Losing due to a 4-on-3 OT goal is not normally a very clear decider on whether one team is better than the other.

Imo yall should not be salty, as a canadian i can say that it is okay to lose sometimes, we cant always win. Yeah the refs sucked but they were horrible towards both teams. Good game Finland gg.
If we, as fans, don't care about refs sucking, then they're going to keep sucking.

I give Finland full marks, but bad reffing is a blight on this otherwise magnificent sport, and though the NHL has loads of the same issues, the IIHF brings it to a significantly higher level.

NHL reffing is at least good enough to almost invariably never have it effect the Stanley Cup Finals, let alone consistently so.

Sure. But if all the correct calls were made, that incident never happens, because the game is much different without that 5-on-3.

When Roy got the goalie tripping penalty on the following Finnish attack on the Canadian blue line the canadian player was waterskiing the finnish player. Could have easily been 5vs3 full 2 minutes from the getgo.

Childish post about being childish.

On principle I agree. I do think it is much to ask. And I also think this is the wrong place to discuss it. It's not the Finns fault and they weren't the first team to benefit from reffing and I don't think they will be the last. It's too bad for us and especially the guys that battled to get the game tied at the end of the third. But it is what it is - even if it shouldn't be.

I am an old man and I remember a game during the 1990 worlds in Switzerland in which Finland had us in the ropes 1-5. Steve Yzerman Gerard Gallant and Brian Bellows put on a show with the refs - completely f***ing the Finns over and over including a clear as a day kicking goal which was the equalizer iirc. We won 6-5. These things go both ways.

No idea what play you're talking about, so I can't be sure if you're bullshitting me or not...
