I didn't watch the semifinal, I was at the hospital.
It was the QF. You beat the Czechs in the semi final quite easily.
Yo, Canada! This OUR game, meaning Finland and Canada. We're the only countries where hockey is the number one sport. So let's do this again next year? Game 4?
This is where I advise Finns to not go overboard with the Koskenkorva. It's ok to celebrate, it's not ok to turn obnoxious in some kind of NA hubris.

Then why even participate? xD

This is more exciting than the stanley cuop
We shouldn't. In the 70's, IIRC, Canada pulled out of the Olympics because of the officiating.

Just pull out. No Russia. No Canada. Walk away.

Someone said Canada had the better players?! What's that based on, number on NHL players?

Finland has atleast 2 defenders better than Canadas best. They have atleast 4 forwards better than Canadas best.

Sorry to inform you, but there are good players outside of the NHL.
Who other than Heiskanen is better than Chabot?..... Are ya new?

For the bad Canadian loser here: the penalty in OT against Canada was absolutely justified. The Canadian stick was between the legs of the Finn.
It was a penalty, no way it wasn't going to get called, as soon as I saw it i just went........'ah man, Chabot, you just killed us"

He knows better, he messed up, it happens. I'm really glad he comes to play for us year after year though, I will always respect Chabot for that.

No it never went back. Look at the view from above. Before the tackle you can see the goal line clearly. After the tackle it's diagonal to the goal line.

And if that's not enough the goal shouldn't have counter because its a f-ing cross-check
That’s what they showed.

The view from above.

I know there’s some desperation for the 5 on 3 call that put Finland back in the game but the call was fine.

No, Finland were the best team when it mattered the most. Well deserved. The refs missed many calls against Canada as well but i understand sore children are always gonna find excuses.
I've haven't seen such atrocious reffing since Victor Kulagan-- Finland was given the championship -- and the idea of 3 on 3 in OT for a tournament like this is fkn bizzare
Only in Europe lol

It was a great game. Congrats Finland, can't say you didn't deserve it. Both teams played well enough to win.

IIHF Officiating really manages to make their NHL counterparts look competent and that's hard to do. Not just this game but every game I watched in this tournament there was at least one horrendous call and usually more.

Proud of this Canadian team as well.

But when the calls at crucial moments went Canada's way against Sweden it was all fine and dandy, right? Because when Nylander tripped a Canadian at 3 on 3, it wasn't a dive, right? But now it was? Because it was AGAINST Canada. Oh, I see!
Chabot deserved the tripping call, his stick went between the Finn’s legs. But if you think Nylander didn’t deserve his penalty, you are nuts. His foot caught both feet of the Canadian, and took him out. Intentional or not, it was a trip, and definitely not a dive

People really just witnessed an overtime goal that made your country win gold on home soil and fans’ first thought was to bring up their phones… They barely had time to celebrate the goal

Only saw the highlights for that one too.
Can't really say anything for it.

I'll call out missed calls and questionable ones, I always do even against my Habs. But a phantom high stick from 100ft away to put a team 5 on 3 is not championship-class reffing.

So awkward watching the 2nd place team accept their rewards. Like congrats you lost but here's a consolation prize a less important medal

to be fair I'm not sure Canadian fans watch the games before the finals
