It's all so tiresome

That game was a shit show. The canucks are very talented and Igor had an off night. That being said, the Rangers are so deficient in playing defense through the neutral zone and they are being exploited every time they play a team with some semblance of speed and skill. It’s so damn easy for other teams to break down whatever neutral zone scheme the Rangers are set up in. Even last game vs Montreal how many times were the Rangers beat up ice and giving up odd man rushes galore after one pass gets past their forecheck? The other problem is they have one line who can sustain an offensive zone possession and that line plays a pretty high risk game which is fine, but they are sorely missing Chytil and even Kakko that is obvious. Rangers 1st line or whatever you want to call it is not good enough and unless you are adding an elite RW which isn’t likely nothing is going to change that.

I'm also less mad than I would be normally at the completely asinine Trouba and Schneider step ups on rushes because they're feeling pressed into doing something as the rest of the team played shinny. It's stupid and bad but the intention is good if badly misapplied.

Unfortunately Igor has had more off nights than on lately

Chytil needs to get back please.
Kakko is coming along.

Kreider-Zib-???? (Does it really matter)
Panarin-Trocheck-Lafreniere
Cuylle- Chytil- Kakko
Vesey-Goodrow-Pitlick

Chytil is the damn x factor right now. Allows us to hopefully get Bonino out. Gives us a decent 4th line. A young very capable 3rd line that can actually pitch in a few goals.
And still have an elite line. Don't really know what to do with Zib's line.

Guys like Othmann/Sykora/Berard are coming along nice but don't think they are the solution this year.

i have no problem with wheeler or pitlick signings. they were fine signings. bonino hasn't been good since 2017 and I absolutely could not see the logic in signing him
He signed Pitlick, Bonino, Gus, and Wheeler for 1 year 800k. Those were all good signings for a cash strapped team. Who would you have playing 3C when Chytil went down? The 1 mistake he made this off season was not buying out Goodrow.

Is Edstrom still injured? He would be an improvement over Wheeler, Bonino, Othmann, and Goodrow, as far as I'm concerned. Not really sure why he never got a longer opportunity in the first place; he looked legit.
I think he is hurt. I haven't watched Hartford in a couple of weeks. Hasn't played since Dec 27 according to game log.

Should have just played Jones on wing and returned Othmann to Hartford.
any word on when Edstom is back from injury?

The last two losses we were because their goalie outplayed our goalie.
I am totally OK with getting goalied every now and then. Especially by a team like Montreal, whatever it happens, but if you play the game right, and play to your opponent, you shouldn't be giving up 5 to another top team. 5 is a lot of goals, even if your goalie is off. That is inexcusable.

His PDO is 105.6. He's a passenger doing fly bys all day long which makes his relative success WORSE because if he's just league average with all the timidity he's a dominant player.

He plays like the next hit is going to kill him, which it might, and I'm not angry at him the person for prioritizing his brain, health, and family. I can be plenty angry at the hockey player.

There is no chance to win the Cup with this type of guy as your top center. Very cool that you like his game and stuff.
If there was a top 10 center list on the main boards without Mika all the resident @Machinehead types would be demanding a revote. But on this board he can't play.

You're citing a theoretical main board poll after saying people on this one aren't mensa members?

LMAO

I think this team has a culture issue. The rangers vets are baby shit soft.

Cuylle known as a gritty player, comes up here and turns into a country club guy.

Othmann, known as a total prick, comes up here and is acting like a puppy.

When your longest tenured players are guys like zib and kreider its just bound to happen. Those guys prefer to shake guys hands than put them through the glass. If its not done this year, drury needs to flip the roster and it starts with bringing in guys who care, who fight tooth and nail every night. This group is incredibly soft and has no compete in them outside of a select few like bread, laff and troch.

I'm just tired of this style of play that's getting closer to a decade now.
I miss the black and blue shirts. This team resembles a figure skating team more than a hockey team

That's just the norm for Trouba. He was never, never good defensively in his entire career and now he's just a glorified bottom pair D.

Insert snarky comment from fanboy about how the Rangers are keeping him so get over it, implying (incorrectly) that the team is right and you are not

Man the forwards aren’t good enough? No one called that over and over again for the past 2-3 years.
