Thanks for this. Please feel free to point this out anytime. I may do this more than I realize. Not sure if this was an autocorrect or if I had started to type the other games and mixed them up or if just old age.

The fact that I can’t remember is already a sign of old age….
Man do I feel for you. I can't imagine what it must be like to be old. All those aches and pains, fading eyesight and memory, constantly having to yell at kids to get off your lawn. Yup, I'm fortunate to have avoided all that.

More bonus softy of the night goals

Nick Suzuki on Casey DeSmith

Elias Pettersson on Darcy Kuemper.

Lars Eller on Thatcher Demko

Yeah, good one Demko. What are you f***in sleeping here? Did you stay behind the locker room and take a nap and missed the start of the period? Really?

Seth Jervis on Philipp Grubauer. I'm sure if Grubauer was on the Avalanche the defense never would have let this happen.

Sebastian Aho on Philipp Grubauer. How can I nail a goalie on a shot that's deflected in front of the net? Oh, yeah, that's because it wasn't deflected in front. It went straight through. Was that a screen too? I guess that's becuz expansion team.

Trent Frederic on Sergei Bobrovsky. What a weak and pathetic wraparound goal. And it was the game winner no less.

I know Husso had a couple that made me laugh, but since I watched all these last night, I forgot exactly how bad they were. Maybe not as bad as any of these.

I guess this explains why save percentages are down? Too many soft goals? The era of big guys wearing huge equipment and just standing there hoping to get hit with the puck is over? Will we see a return to more normal sized goalies?
Well, to be fair we are early in the season. My percentages are over 31% on the season so far (they're usually around 28% or so most seasons, I think they were 29% one season) so they're kind of PDO'ing right now, just like save percentage and shooting percentage levels right now.

In the first week of this new season I'm noticing A LOT more wraparound goals in and fewer of the dead angle goals (at least not many clean ones) that squeak in.

I think I've counted about 6 clean wraparounds so far (I don't keep track of that exact figure, just the number of goals stoppable) and maybe 3 of those dead angle ones. At least clean ones.

One of them was on Martin Jones of the Seattle ''We make our goalies look worse becuz exspanshun teem'' Kraken the other night.

I notice those goals seem to happen more frequently than the clean wraparound over the last several years, but not so much in week one of this season.

Softy of the night is this Mikko Rantanen goal on Filip Gustavsson

No words for this one. Just embarrassing.

However, I will say there were enough softies last night to make up for a pretty good week’s worth of really good softy of the night goals. There were quite a few blooper reel goals and this was just one of them.

I’ll post a few more of them and do a montage after lunch.

Just an awful awful goal. Blackwood would be run out of town for one like this.

Just an awful awful goal. Blackwood would be run out of town for one like this.
The Wild announce team didn't seem to find anything wrong with this goal and seemed to chalk it up to bad luck.

When the two goalies have combined for 20 goals against over the first four games, this is one that really deserves no mercy.

I never thought I'd be saying this about any team but..... I think they might have gotten hosed on the Cam Talbot deal. Maybe they like the cap space, but this AHL goalie that's shown no ability to play at an NHL level at any point and continues not to is just really awful.

Softy of the night is this William Carrier goal on Jacob Markstrom

This was really bad, but there were some more good ones tonight. I’m pretty sure William Carrier scored that really awful goal on Schneider when we played Vegas at home back in December of 2018, which we came back to win after we pulled him down 3-0. It was that brutal goal I posted a video of the other day that was a harmless shot into his glove and he caught it, then dropped it right between his legs and it dribbled in.

Two more wraparounds tonight too. One was on Spencer Martin and I already forgot who the other one was on. Think it might have been Reimer on the Sharks.

What a joke. He literally looks like he was trying to pass to a Golden Knights player on this one and he did.

Softy of the night is this Brett Ritchie goal on Antti Raanta

I really don't like giving these goals softy of the night, as they seem to happen more regularly than you'd realize if you weren't watching every single goal scored every single night in every game. I really wanted to give it to Quick for that pathetic wraparound goal from Marcus Johansson. But I haven't seen many of these this year. I think this might only be the third or maybe the fourth. I'm used to seeing this type of goal (from a bad angle that squeaks through the goalie or the post) approximately every other night. I've been seeing a lot more wraparound goals this year, which I usually see fewer of than these types of goals.

I would have given Blackwood a pass on that goal. It was a heck of a shot and he seemed in good position. If it’s consistent with other stoppable goals you award thrn I get it.
