Oh I know which group I count myself in...and I'd have plenty of company. You and Brian would get awfully bored posting to each other all the time without us.
Morning, folks. Obviously our entire fanbase is in meltdown mode because of our goalie situation. I know a lot of folks would love to see Husso acquired, but I can't understand why the Blues would move him this year. Even if he walks in the summer the smart play to me seems like riding the hot hand to the playoffs and/or keeping him as a backup in case anything happens.
Just wondering what your thoughts are on Husso and what it would take to acquire him, if he's even available which I've been arguing he probably isn't.
Thanks!
Not mid-season, but he’d be a good target as UFA in a few months.Morning, folks. Obviously our entire fanbase is in meltdown mode because of our goalie situation. Trading Husso is a complete non-starter unless Binner looks like a legitimate starter again by the trade deadline. Husso is currently the starter and he is not getting moved unless that changes. We only have 13 games before then, so it will be very difficult for Binner to put together a large enough sample of strong play to look like a legitimate starter by then. Even if Binner plays 8-10 good games before the deadline and wins the net back, it would be very difficult to trade Husso and head into the playoffs without a safety net. Given Binner's inconsistency this year, we would have to be blown away by an offer on Husso to remove that safety net. So again, a Husso trade would only be on the table if Binner shows the staff a lot over the next 3+ weeks. So any talk about his trade value is couched in that reality.Morning, folks. That's pretty surprising.Husso looks to be the Starter tonight.
Appreciate the response. I'm in agreement with everything you've said and also dont think we should trade Skinner without letting him run with it first.Trading Husso is a complete non-starter unless Binner looks like a legitimate starter again by the trade deadline. Even if Binner wins the job back by the deadline, Husso is still very valuable to this team as a safety net and wouldn't be worth a trade that returns a couple low/mid-value futures assets. I like Stuart Skinner and don't really understand why he isn't on your NHL roster. He would have to be part of any deal I make to trade Husso. I think he is NHL ready and would offer us an acceptable safety net. Our internal goalie prospects could use another year (or more) of seasoning, so I like the option to run Skinner on our NHL roster at $750k next year. I think the least that I'd consider for Husso would be Skinner and your 2022 2nd rounder (conditioned to become the 2022 1st if you reach the Final and have to give Chicago your 2nd). I wouldn't make that trade if I were you guys, but that is what it would take to get me thinking about moving Husso. He is very valuable to me this season, even if Binner re-takes the job and Husso walks as a UFA.
All of this becomes moot if we believe it is possible to extend Husso at an AAV that works in our cap structure next year.
I see the logic in it. Husso's undeniably been the better goaltender. Yes, Binner finally put in a quality start, but now he has to prove he can do it consistently. There will be time for that -- but in the meantime, you don't want to let your hot hand go cold. That's pretty surprising.
It's not the least bit surprising that we are starting the goalie who has started 12 of our last 17 games. Binner hasn't started 2 straight games since January 5th. You've been the most vocal "1 game doesn't mean he's fixed" poster here, so I'm pretty surprised that you were so convinced about Binner starting tonight. That's pretty surprising.
Husso looks to be the Starter tonight.
There isn't one yet. And I was just passing along information about a goalie.Take it to the GDT.
Not to me. I don't really understand why its a surprise to anyone. He's taken over the starting role for now. It would be foolish to let him get cold due to lack of starts when he's on a hot streak like this. That doesn't mean you can't still give Binnington some starts and try to nurse him back into form. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if they start alternating starts if Binnington looks a lot better. The schedule will be dense enough for that to work. That's pretty surprising.
After Binnington's last game I figured they'd give him a chance to keep it going. Not to me. I don't really understand why its a surprise to anyone. He's taken over the starting role for now. Do you get tired of being wrong? After Binnington's last game I figured they'd give him a chance to keep it going.
Do you understand the difference between opinion and fact?Do you get tired of being wrong?
You thought he would start tonight. He wont. That makes you erroneous expectation wrong on the facts.Do you understand the difference between opinion and fact?
I think its pretty obvious husso is the starter amd legtimately dont understand why peopke woukd be surpriaed by this. After Binnington's last game I figured they'd give him a chance to keep it going.
