i wouldn't mind a couple minor shakeups, and i will probably get a couple eyebrow raises but i wouldn't mind giving a try

PDG / Pettersson / Kuzmenko
Hoglander / Miller / Boeser
Mikheyev / Lafferty / Beauvillier

then the joshua/blueger/garland
My eye brows are raised !

My eye brows are raised !
Kinda wonder what Lafferty and JT Miller would do together, I think Lafferty had some upside, maybe cause he is shiney and new but was such a savvy addition over Studnicka

This is my first zero expectation game of the year. I will be watching for attention to systems, hustle on the back check, keeping the play to the center of the ice and getting the puck out of the defensive zone off-the-boards and out type of stuff.

This is going to be a hell game going against the Nordiques in their barn after the grueling travel schedule the Nucks have had. Just hoping they keep it simple like coach wants and stay in the game. This game is a good bell-weather game for their chances in the playoff hunt.

It's very hard to imagine Colorado not feasting on our D in this game.

Having Kuzmenko and Boeser really screws up our ability to meaningfully shake up lines, IMO.

I actually feel like Pettersson would do better if he were given two forechecking guys and less skill support, at this point. But you can't have Kuzmenko playing on the bottom lines-- he would just create more problems there where they didn't exist before, IMO. So you're kind of stuck.

Hoglander - Pettersson - Mikheyev

is actually something I would have been interested in seeing. I suspect that the reason Hoglander hasn't worked with Pettersson is primarily because he's such an awful fit with Kuzmenko.

I don't think laterally replacing Mikheyev with Hoglander is going to really do much of anything, personally.

Avs are very run and gun. There's a reason we matched up well vs them during our shit years.

They will give you chances, and if you can bend without breaking, a lot of em.

Altitude;
Altitude affects an athlete’s performance. Teams who practice at sea level tire 20 percent faster and transport 10 percent less oxygen in their bodies when they compete in Denver.

Canucks will have to play shorter shifts and not get caught on the ice too long. Recovery time is longer and lactic acid in the legs builds up faster. Shifts should be 30% shorter or around 30 sec's.
They should have an oxygen bottle on the bench.

Both teams will be experiencing the same effects as Colorado was on the road for a week and just got back but they are much more used to adjusting.

JTMiller mentioned the altitude issue so it is/may be in their heads.

The top two defencemen duel it out.
Makar currently the best point per game vs Hughes with top points in total.
Two Orr comparisons.
For every accolade showered on Hughes, Makar has been very slightly better to date except in +/-, a stat a lot of people don't consider accurate enough.

If both keep at their current pace for the entire year.
Makar 82 games - 1.59 pts/gm - 130.4 pts
Hughes 82 games - 1.58 pts/gm - 129.6 pts

Whatta race!

Colorado should have the advantage with two fewer wins than the Canucks but 2 games in hand

This is one game that Demko may have to steal.....he was decent against the Kraken and Sharks, but he'll need to be in a zone tonight.

Hopefully Pettersson can get un-tracked.....he always seems to rise to the challenge of playing the Avalanche.

Will be nice to watch 2 teams that like to attack for a change with some high end skill. Hughes vs Makar is worth the price of admission to say nothing of the remaining stars

Hopefully we can get a early lead as skating uphill in Denver is never an easy task

Legendary Canuck killers. Could always count on these 2 to absolutely torch us up.

Man the Avs are such a lucky franchise. 2 loaded cores. Many HOF players. 3 cups.

I think the Canucks are going to this game on a good vibe..They took control of the SJS game in the 3rd, whereas they gave the game away to the Kraken in the 3rd.

I don't think anyone in the lineup had a particularly poor game against SJS..

Game will be a good measuring stick, to see how they stand up against top competition..If the energy is there, they have a good chance to take it.

Jeez, almost forgot about Milan Hejduk. He was THE Canuck Killer during my high school years. For all the high octane power those late 90s/early 00s Avs teams had, no one - in my estimation - lit the Canucks on fire like Hejduk did.

EDIT: He had more goals and points against the Canucks than he did anyone else. 36 goals and 32 assists in 81 career GP vs. Vancouver.

There was a game in 2005 where I vividly remember Jim and John stressing the importance of containing Hejduk in the pre-game.

Puck drops. Some 10-11 seconds into the game...Milan Hejduk scores.

I was laughing my ass off at that point.
