Do we know what time the Hawks' tribute for Mikheyev starts before the game?

I'm assuming that's a thing that is happening because of his legendary career with us, and with us being in town so early in the season, the timing is too perfect.

Bedard has his home town team playing in his barn. Expect a few $"s on the board from him on this to show he wants to represent well.

If the Canucks rotate their lines and play undercontrol focused hockey this should be 5-2 Nucks with Lanker in net. Expect some big hits from Sherwood, some hate towards Garland and some fiestynessfrom EP40.

3rd pair D are going to look good against the Hwaks

Hope I'm wrong, but looks to me like both Miller and Hughes are nursing some kind of injuries. Tocchet admitted as much when Miller was forced to leave after a seemingly innocuous collision on the opening faceoff.

And Hughes looked to be in serious discomfort on the bench at times in the Flyers game. I guess these are nicks that they can play through......but hope they don't become 'chronic' as the long season unfolds.

Really hope the PP starts showing some signs of life.

Hope EP40 can continue to play better.

Hope JT can take some faceoffs.

Would like to see Debrusk or Heinen chip in a G or at least an A this game

I think we all know who should start but just in case you didn’t. Also, love that the Oilers have two goalie in bottom five.

Always blows my mind how many media members think “this is the year” Skinner breaks out into a Vezina candidate. He’s an aggressively average goalie at best who has hot/cold streaks, but people magically think those hot streaks will just become the norm one day when he’s never shown he’s “that guy.”

As an aside it’s crazy to me how the fancy stats loves the Oilers depth guys, when it’s clear as day that most of their numbers get juiced up by playing with either Drai or McDavid.

Also yes Silovs has been brutal so far, that matches the eye test. Hopefully some practice time is helping him reset & improve his tracking/focus.

Why do I get the feeling we are starting Silovs, benching Brannstrom for Juulsen and probably putting Bains and Suter with Pettersson...

Prove me wrong Tochett!

It's absurd how the NHL runs in terror from the NFL.
I mean, it's justified. The NFL is the undisputed ratings king in the U.S. Americans simply are not watching hockey if football in on TV.

I can kinda understand the weird timing - next Tuesday we got 16 games rolling, that's...basically the entire f***ing NHL.
They did it last season too. They have every team in the league playing at staggered start times.

Power-play needs to start scoring, should be a top 10 PP.

Thought the 3rd & 4th lines were excellent against Philly (Heinen-Blueger-Sherwood & Suter-Aman-Sprong).

I really don't get the folks who complain about scheduling. Like at all. Like most sports hockey has it's days where they like to play the majority of their games. What's the big deal? There is tonnes and tonnes of hockey on for about 8 months. Some people just like to complain imo.

I remember people upset last year about the Tuesday full of games. Very unique idea. I don't know of many other sports that have 16 games with 16 different start times covering 8 hours in one weekday. "Cool" is my first reaction.

And yeah, no one is watching hockey games instead of Monday Night football. I'm confused as to why it would be important to a hockey fan to complete with MNF.

I also liked the staggered start time day for all teams. Fun to follow as a hockey fan.

The NHL is also a business. They are 100% getting less business if they try to go H2H with the NFL. Like, the decision is obvious.

To be honest. I think the bigger question is why does the NFL run in terror from the NHL? PLAY FOOTBALL SATURDAY NIGHTS COWHERDS! They only play games on 3 nights, what are they afraid of?

I woke up and had blood flowing to places in my body because I thought it was game day. I hate the NHL.

You can't play Lankinen every game, and you want Silovs to get his confidence back. Normally this would be a good game to slide him into the rotation... but it's not much of a rotation when the next game isn't till Saturday.

So we'll see, but I'd say deciding to start Silovs would be the least of these things you mention Tocchet could do.
