Thanks. I had definitely not seen that one, but seeing as it's from today, I'm not surprised.

I will definitely give it a listen, thanks.
You know my style, but seriously it was a very positive listen in terms of where the team is and is going. EM’s passing really does seem to have thrown all the windows wide open for a fresh spring breeze.

One column I read recently (Mendes maybe?) noted that all the LGTBQ+ friendly initiatives lately was at the request of the daughters. EM didn’t like it but they are definitely more inclusive and aware.

I always appreciated team communication when things were less combative in Sens land back in the Murray days or Dorion's first year, so I'm open to that coming back. Will definitely give it a listen later tonight.

I get why the precedent set here has people screaming they owe you nothing sort of thing, but we're all still fans of the team and wanting to hear more or being genuinely curious if their ownership is not just for the interim doesn't need to be a mud slinging contest belittling each other over past motivations.

Radio or was it quotes in an article? I haven't been able to find anything but would be interested in listening/reading.

Right but that's all from that same statement including dialogue about nothing being decided and them taking the time to decide the future, or was there more?

I'm not getting involved to say what I want or "expect" nor looking to get between their pissing match, I'm just saying that I think it's stupid to try to lay down the law with definitive statements. If I were a betting man, I'd be betting on some sort of statement from the org that eventually clarifies if they will be carrying forward on a permanent or interim basis.

Any ya I didn't mean 3rd party as in to imply it was hearsay, I meant as in who tweeted a quote about it which is all I saw. I was not aware Leblanc had been out there doing interviews, etc. so I'm genuinely asking now because I haven't seen anything and would like to listen.

I can absolutely understand why the Melnyks would want to hold back and get the house in order first before making any public statements. I agree that we will need to hear from them eventually - either directly or by proxy - but I've no complaint with them taking these early offseason months to open a few windows and bring some respected faces back into the team fold. Make a few positive moves first, then open the dialogue. There's no immediate shortage of time, and nothing I've read recently has given me any concerns about the direction of the franchise.

Let's be real here. Had they come out in the past two months and said 'we have no plans to sell the team' before anything else, a lot of people here would've flipped their lids.

geeez…. Let me tell you what is going on with this team…. They will be preparing, and then participating in the entry draft, then will try their luck in the UFA market…. And then off season, training camp and the next season with a goal of making or at least contending for a play off spot…… common knowledge my friend.

Oh if anything else happens, I’m sure they or the media will report on it.

Thanks

The board of governors will get an update by Bettman on the Sens ownership and future, but the fans don’t.

This is why Ottawa is a joke franchise - they don’t embrace their fans. The owner of Arizona knows more then a Season ticket holder.

Yes the BOG meetings are made up of owners, and that’s why get to sit in on the meetings, and not STHs.

Who would of guessed, the ones running the league would get an update on the teams status before fans do.

I want to find out as much as the next guy, but I don’t expect to know , before the league does.

MacTavish was a very unusual AGM. I don't think he ever spoke to the media even one time in his nearly 4 years on the job - that's not normal. This guy was second in command of the Ottawa Senators and I doubt anybody could even pick him out of a lineup.

I remember hearing an interview with him during an intermission of a Belleville game shortly after he was appointed. The man sounded absolutely bewildered about what his responsibilities were going to be, but one thing he was sure of is that he wasn't going to have anything to do with the running of the AHL team.

You wonder if this was another Melnyk appointee that sees the writing on the wall...?

Dammit, we lost our contracts guy.

Anyone here a CPA? We might see a listing on Indeed soon enough

Would it be 3D chess level tactics if GMPD sent Paul to Tampa at the deadline, in the hopes of resigning a good role player that now has some of the most extensive playoff experience from an organization that anyone would love to model themselves off of?

After these playoffs, he's going to be signing for much more than what he was reportedly asking from the Sens. Not sure I'd call that 3D chess.

Um, well if I remember correctly he was a league recommended guy in a contracts type role. His responsibilities never had anything to do with hockey ops outside of contracts and cap calculations.

If he was recommended by the league then it's the first I've heard of it, and I can't find any reference to it anywhere online. Doesn't make a ton of sense to me - why would the league recommend a lawyer with no hockey executive experience? Surely they would want an experienced executive to help settle a tumultuous front office?

Just seems suspicious that another front office person is leaving in the immediate wake of Melnyk's passing. Especially considering that this is most likely a step backward in his career.

I can't find anything on it either but strangely that's how I remember it. But he had a lot of hockey experience prior to the Sens. He worked for CAA hockey which is Pat Brisson and J.P. Barry's agency doing agent/contract work. He was a good hire. Same work, different side of the table.

Barry said this when he was hired

“Peter will be an excellent hire for the Senators,” said Barry in a statement to this newspaper. “He brings so many important elements to this position. He’s always extremely prepared and thorough.

“Peter understands both the scouting side and the business side of hockey and he does all this with character and integrity. We wish him the best in his future role.”

It was a few years back when he was hired. He was definitely recommended to Ottawa for the role he moved into, I cannot remember by who. Thought it was the league. Maybe I heard someone like a Friedman say that in an intermission around the hire date.

Here's another angle

Look up Quartexx hockey and who owns it. Then start imagining from there.
