I'm not looking to push him out but if TML or someone wants to overpay for him, why not.
I think that Simmons, Ghost and Voracek will be gone by the TDL; not sure what the return will be. Toronto has been sniffing around enough that they could be one trading partners.
I’m not big on moving Gudas. He and Sanheim have been the best defensive pair this year. I’d hate to break up that.
I think with Gordon coaching, and the team playing more up tempo, Fletcher will have a good read on the players by the end of January.
At that point, unless a miracle occurs, he'll be looking to sell all the veterans he doesn't consider part of the team's future.
And we'll find out who he likes and dislikes by the players shipped out of town.
My expectation is a few fan favorites will be in that group.
Based on that, it’s been a problem for a LONG time. It's a little early for heavy drugs isn't it?
I dont think it's your expectation. I think it's your hope, and I think you believe it to be some sort of revenge.
He's on a good contract for sure. That also helps with getting max value. I just don't see him as a necessary piece. Again, not looking to move him for a 2nd and a cap dump. If he can net a young piece for our corp, like Kapanen, that's getting good value.
I honestly don't know how coveted he would be. With names like Ghost and Myers coming up, those young players are more important to keep. Hopefully Morin can jump up next year and fill a middle pairing net presence.
No, a new GM has no loyalty to any of these players, especially the "Flyer veterans."
He'll judge them on how they fit going forward, not what they did in the past.
And he won't care about what the fans think.
To keep Coots safe during practice sessions? Why do people want to trade Gudas?
Posthed this in the Hak thread, but it makes more sense here....
I'm fine giving Fletch some time, but so far he has called up zero skater prospects from the AHL, and I'm wondering if one will called up before the deadline.
Myers and NAK should be up already, and MacDonald and Varone should be in Allentown. Varone does more for the org as the Phantoms 1C than he does on the 4th line for the Flyers.
Gudas isn’t in the way of anyone. Hagg/MacDonald/Folin should be the odd ones out if promotions happen.
This season can't be turned around unless someone wants to trade us a Vezina caliber goalie.
We need to play at a 105-110 point pace just to squeeze into the playoffs.
And Gordon is not exactly a genius on the bench, have you watched the Phantoms.
So relax, enjoy some high scoring losses, and see which players stand out and which ones earn themselves a new address.
I never said we should keep/or I value any of that trash over him. All I said was I would be fine moving him in an OVERPAYMENT.
You can’t just pick up a joystick & make an Xbox trade. 2 weeks is nothing. Gotta evaluate your team, see what’s out there, & be careful not to get ripped off by vultures because you’re desperate. Two weeks is a long time to not do anything when you've been charged with turning the season around. If Holmgren/Scott wanted to stick with status quo then Hextall would still be here. Fletcher knows enough about the system to say that 20 guys should play in the NHL. Well, start getting them up there.
So far it looks like Fletcher's just going to be the third Flyers GM who ****s the bed re: MacDonald.
Not sure if Kapanen+ is a fit or an overpayment with the depth at forward waiting for promotion
