I'm not looking to push him out but if TML or someone wants to overpay for him, why not.

So Calvin de Haan is a good defenseman. He got 4.5x4 this offseason despite injury issues and a relatively short track record.

Gudas is a righty with a longer track record of success, but without the injury issues. He gets $3.5MM for another 1.5 seasons.

I’m afraid that your idea of overpayment would be selling low.

He's on a good contract for sure. That also helps with getting max value. I just don't see him as a necessary piece. Again, not looking to move him for a 2nd and a cap dump. If he can net a young piece for our corp, like Kapanen, that's getting good value.

I honestly don't know how coveted he would be. With names like Ghost and Myers coming up, those young players are more important to keep. Hopefully Morin can jump up next year and fill a middle pairing net presence.

I think that Simmons, Ghost and Voracek will be gone by the TDL; not sure what the return will be. Toronto has been sniffing around enough that they could be one trading partners.
I’m not big on moving Gudas. He and Sanheim have been the best defensive pair this year. I’d hate to break up that.

It's a little early for heavy drugs isn't it?

I think with Gordon coaching, and the team playing more up tempo, Fletcher will have a good read on the players by the end of January.
At that point, unless a miracle occurs, he'll be looking to sell all the veterans he doesn't consider part of the team's future.
And we'll find out who he likes and dislikes by the players shipped out of town.

My expectation is a few fan favorites will be in that group.

I dont think it's your expectation. I think it's your hope, and I think you believe it to be some sort of revenge.

No, a new GM has no loyalty to any of these players, especially the "Flyer veterans."
He'll judge them on how they fit going forward, not what they did in the past.
And he won't care about what the fans think.

Gudas isn’t in the way of anyone. Hagg/MacDonald/Folin should be the odd ones out if promotions happen.

No one is in the way of anyone, if Fletcher decides Myers is ready, he'll play. If Fletcher decides he wants to look at Friedman, he'll play. If Fletcher decides Brennan has earned a NHL shot like Varone, he'll play (and we'll all avert our eyes).

You keep mentioning the fans. Like I said, it's pretty clear you're hoping something will happen that will pain the rest of the fanbase.

Deadhead, just come out and admit you're Hakstol's cousin, we all know anyway. There's no other reasonable explanation for your behavior.

Posthed this in the Hak thread, but it makes more sense here....

I'm fine giving Fletch some time, but so far he has called up zero skater prospects from the AHL, and I'm wondering if one will called up before the deadline.

Myers and NAK should be up already, and MacDonald and Varone should be in Allentown. Varone does more for the org as the Phantoms 1C than he does on the 4th line for the Flyers.

He's had two freakin' weeks, he probably hasn't had a chance to review game tape on the NHL club, much less confer with Gordon over which AHL players are potential promotions.

There's a roster limit, and if you're thinking of moving some players, say for draft picks, you're probably not going to want to send them to the AHL

It's very possible Fletcher just sticks with the current team until late January, watch how they play under Gordon's more up tempo system, then start moving bodies and freeing up PT for promotions.

Two weeks is a long time to not do anything when you've been charged with turning the season around. If Holmgren/Scott wanted to stick with status quo then Hextall would still be here. Fletcher knows enough about the system to say that 20 guys should play in the NHL. Well, start getting them up there.

So far it looks like Fletcher's just going to be the third Flyers GM who shits the bed re: MacDonald.

This season can't be turned around unless someone wants to trade us a Vezina caliber goalie.
We need to play at a 105-110 point pace just to squeeze into the playoffs.
And Gordon is not exactly a genius on the bench, have you watched the Phantoms.

So relax, enjoy some high scoring losses, and see which players stand out and which ones earn themselves a new address.

I know it's going to hurt you a lot when the Flyers play well. Be safe.

Don't presume anything, let's see how the next month unfolds.
Unless Hart stands on his head, Flyers aren't going to play well as a team under Gordon.
They may be more fun to watch lose, but they'll still lose.

You can’t just pick up a joystick & make an Xbox trade. 2 weeks is nothing. Gotta evaluate your team, see what’s out there, & be careful not to get ripped off by vultures because you’re desperate.

Not sure if Kapanen+ is a fit or an overpayment with the depth at forward waiting for promotion

Depends on what else happens with trades. Preferably just Simmer at this point. With doofus and his shit system gone I prefer to see what the team looks like when they are not skating zombies.

We're mostly in agreement I think. I'm assuming our trash isn't bringing back much. If for some miracle they do, I'll drive them out myself. Lol
