I really hope the playoff system changes. I just hate how when you finish 2nd or 3rd, you are forced to stay in your division in the first round. I miss the randomness of matchups in the old system.

I doubt they go back to the old system, they want intense playoff rivalries and this is the better way.

Tough thing for the Pacific division is everyone other than Anaheim has been in and out so much the past couple of years that the rivalries haven't been able to grow.

hell i was ready to blame em during the season

this season was basically the opportunity for them to prove that they weren't the problem, that coaching was. clearly they've proven a lot
I would save that comment til AFTER they win the cup. They won 2 cups under Sutter....

“Rivalries”

"Time zones"

It was a half-assed compromise for all involved. They didn't stick with full conference, or go with full division. It's a weird hybrid, but it's mostly about time zones, start times, and travel.

The good news is the Ducks have two very winnable games. Still optimistic we can avoid playing one of the other CA teams.

See... Plan should be... Beat the Sharks and get the monkey off our back again... Ride that momentum until the 2nd round and bumrush Vegas.. Then surprise Nashville and get crowned against whoever the f*** makes it out of the East.

Suprise Nashville..bahahahah. I'd like to live in your fantasy world.

I'd be more worried about Nashville or Vegas if I was you..

For the 111111118th time, the Kings can't play Nashville in round 1.

And I stand by what I said, would much rather see Anaheim and SJ play a very long and grueling series.

So what? They also just won the Pacific division.
So they have 0 playoff experience? For a team that won 2 cups in the past 6 years i'd say that would be pretty embarrassing to lose to them in the first round.

Well that's a relief, because they wouldn't win. Quick has let in enough softies in the last half of this season for that to be obvious. If Wild had even gotten a single shot off in OT it probably would have been a goal.

OD said it best after the game, don't wish for anyone. Play who is in front of you. Regular season matchups and history get flushed down the toilet when the playoffs start. Vegas has fumbled down the stretch, but who's to say they won't ignite? Remember when we stumbled down the stretch in 2012, or pretty much every year since? Past has no bearing, especially stuff from a month plus ago.

In other words, I don't give a shit what the Sharks did to us at home in what, November? With no Carter. Meaningless. I don't want to play them because of repetitiveness, but that's it.

Edit: rofl our lineup for that game. Brooks Laich, Nic Dowd, MacDermid, Fantenberg, Andreoff, Cammalleri....let that sink in.
