I'm just threadbanning anyone who pops off anymore.

I haven't had to do cleanup like this since the last time we made the playoffs, insane what kind of chestthumping happens so early. It was a great and hyped and close game, don't get all the random "LOL DOMINANT" bull****.

Do these homers get blasted by the media to think the leafs are contenders or something? They are still missing pieces that make them a legimate contender. They have nice pieces but I said it during the game, holy over rated batman. I'd be shocked if they make it out if the 2nd round, and wouldn't be shocked at a 1st round exit.

All hail the leafs, best team ever.

Any more trolling by locals or visitors will result in temp bans. This is garbage.

Guess we've arrived now that we're getting visitors again, but let the mods handle it.

Leaf fans creating new accounts to troll.

Can anyone remind me the last time the Leafs won a playoff series? Or anything for that matter? Their last Cup win was in the Original Six era. This is an organization that is synonymous with failure.

real talk though, how is this happening on the 8th game of the season? are all leafs games like this against any team that's remotely competitive? obviously we only play them once or twice a year so we wouldn't see it, but where is all this coming from? if we woulda won a cup last season or something it would make sense cause the "beat the reigning champs" rhetoric but obviously that's not the case. and it's like, still going hours after a monday night game?

In this thread or the other GDT on the mainboard, because things were getting pretty unruly there once the game ended.

Leafs fans still pretty salty about 93. I see I missed another competitive game. What's the story behind Kuemper being in net for a couple seconds?

People are trolling over a random early regular season game? Seriously? Is it snowing in Toronto already or something?

You're lucky. One of the worst officiated games you'll ever see. So awful. And the amount of leafs fans who hopped on here all high and mighty on our boards. So embarrassing.

A spotter evaluated quick for concussion after forbort elbowed him, and he came back next shift.

I wish nothing but failure for the Leafs and their dreadful fan base.

I don't know why my fellow Leafs fans feel the need to patrol this board(or any other) but it's honestly embarrassing. I say this as a Kings fan. I'm not here to kiss ass or apologize but the Kings were always my Western team and I'd post here once in a blue moon back in the day. I won't apoligize for something I didnt do but I will say that, at times, I feel shame on this site. I said it on the leafs board; its like being a parent, I'm not even mad, just disappointed.

You're a Kings fan too? I knew there was a reason why I liked you.

Growing up I loved those early 90's kings jerseys and the Gretzky aluminum and it made me a fan. I was like 6 and was all "ooooo shiny jerseys". I rarely post in the Kings threads but I was a happy camper on the first cup run. I still find it amusing that my initial interest was in the jersey and shiny stick. Wayne who?

Just watched the game. Kings played fine and could have gotten at least a point if they had the four power plays they deserved.

Refs were horrendous but you get a few of those every season. Pathetic when a fan base doesn't realize they received a gift, however. They say "act like you've won before" but it's understandable why those that trolled the Board can't even act like it since they have nothing to draw from.

No need to break up the lines. Third line is scoring and 70/73 are not a liability and still are getting chances.

Fourth line is a disaster though. While Laich is a nice story, nice stories don't win games. Andreoff needs to learn how to throw big hits or he will remain useless.

Using Nick Shore more and Brooks Laich at all is a mistake. If you want more goals and players that can attack the net neither of these guys belong on the roster. Shore is a combination of Pat Conacher and Tin Watters, when he gets the puck I know nothing is going to happen.

Do we have any other choice thou Yes ideally we make a trade and push people back to spots they can excel However what do we really have to trade notta. Andreoff and a pick arent going to get it done.

Did you see the media frenzy?

Constant references to revenge for last year's asskicking (that I totally forgot but apparently is still a big deal), statement games, etc. Babcock whipped everyone into a frenzy and it worked but good lord. It was treated like a Lakers' playoff game.

Good early season test for both clubs. Like most, I thought the officiating was questionable but those are the breaks.

Shore obviously is not the long term answer as a 2nd line centre to fill the void Carter's injury has created but it's very early in the season to try and pull off a trade of substance as all the clubs are tying to evaluate what they really have. Got to try to keep their heads above water and as the season progresses hope an opportunity presents itself to acquire some help to fill that No. 2 centre role. Personally, I'd love a guy like Turris but the Sens are a playoff club and that's not even an option unless something catastrophic happens to them during the season.

Kadri is a good player. Being so close to T.O. I get to see a fair bit of Leafs games and he's a solid 2-way player. He's come a long way under Babcock.

Leafs have a good team but their defense needs work.

Onto the next one. I would assume Keumper gets the nod tonight.

tbh no, i didn't. i tend to ignore the media on most things, though.. i had forgotten about the 7-0 game too. weird. guess some people need to find motivation that way?

Random but curious, I know theres athletes who use certain type of steroid for their muscle to heal quicker. Is that legal in the NHL? Just wondering since it's not gonna change your performance, just how quickly you'd heal. Or do they count that as a ped?
Almost certainly classed as PED as muscle growth is a side effect of healing. I'm sure it's ignored in the NHL as PED's are not monitored properly anyway... hence the rapid increase in the size of the players.

Last night, almost half the roster, and both the GM and coach, were different for the Kings from the 7-0 game last year. Of course that game will mean more for the Leafs. Plus they were coming off a loss to Ottawa.

yeah, that was my first thought. not even remotely close to the same teams anyway

i mean, i guess it got them a win? not my bag.

The Leafs are a young team on the way up, still needing to prove it. They're where the Kings were at in maybe the 10-11 season or so. A younger Kings team would remember a 7-0 loss at home from a November game.

While this Kings team has to prove it again themselves, it's a different road. The Leafs probably don't register as anything but a good young team that you're trying to beat. There's nothing extra.
