Only doing this to troll my fellow mods.

Baby Bucky, you troll!

Minor detail of the previous 191020 games where he had 2 shots and 0 goals..........

Yes this was a step in the right direction but don't pretend like he's been anything but shit up until the last 2 games.......
He's one of the only big game "peform when it matters" players the Nucks have. If they make the playoffs he will only get better.

Okay, so, the game.

Obviously a win - and a win in regulation - would have been the desired outcome. But forcing OT was huge. If we’re going to lose games, we need them to be in OT at this point.

Also makes the next games all the more critical.

Did I see right that Aman got benched? Still not sure why he was in over Lekkerimaki.

And man, can Boeser still score a clutch goal. As one of the last remaining members of the Brock Fanclub, fire away, beautiful haired prince. Fire away.

Not a great performance, Blues controlled most of the game. Team looked slow and unsure again. Don't be surprised if you see these kind of flipflop performances for the rest of the season - it's just what average teams do.

Did not love our D-men tonight, especially the top-4. They all took turns making mistakes, missing the net, getting their shots blocked, missing assignments, etc.

Hughes made a tremendous play on the tying goal but made a stupid play on the 1st goal against and overall was forcing too much offensively. On one hand you can't blame him for wanting to go hero mode but when it doesn't work out, it doesn't look good.

Not sure what all 3 guys were thinking on the overtime goal. They needed to reload like pretty much all teams would in that situation but instead tried to awkwardly enter the zone with no speed or space. Petey tries to go 1 on 3 for some reason and Debrusk changes for some reason and the rest is history. Pure idiocy for 3 of your 5 top players.

Nice to see Boeser clutch up, has gotten us some valuable points over the past couple games. Considering how bad we were this game, I'd say we were fortunate that the Blues only picked up 1 point on us.

I can't remember the last time I cheered this loud for a regular season goal. The loss in OT was a bitter pill to swallow, but on the bright side we got a point and there's still some runway to go. The Blues are a good team but they are not 7-2-1 good. I feel (hope) that they will go on a mini slump soon.

The OT was rather...unfortunate, but honestly of all things I'd complain about this season, that was not exactly high on the priorities list.

Hughes had a rare off game, yeah, else we'd for sure stand a better chance.

Tonight’s Game
  • There were certain parts of their game they liked; had pockets of energy but didn’t have enough
  • Great to get the tie
  • A couple of miscues in overtime
  • A little bit of a sloppy game, there was some good parts to it, but need to clean up the sloppiness
  • It’s a big point but you’re a little dejected
Boeser
  • Has a deadly shot; said after the Jets’ game that if he gets hot, look out
Overtime
  • Did a nice job in Calgary but aborted the plan tonight
  • When you don’t have speed, pass it back and make a line change
  • Were making short passes with players standing still
  • Needed to get back on the 2-on-1
  • Need to clean that stuff up
Intensity
  • Didn’t think the Canucks 1st period was good and the 2nd & 3rd were better
  • Started to come on once they got their legs
Lankinen
  • Has been big all year
  • Had to keep them in it in the 1st period
Last Second Goal
  • Kind of got thrown out but attacked and went right back North with the puck

I’m not a fan of the 2 F 1 D thing in OT. I know all teams do it, but it’s risky. When you’ve seen your team seem to be not very good at it, why not 2 D 1 F. Play more conservative. You still have a chance to win in the shootout.

I know I posted it in the other thread but it still makes me chuckle. If our season and playoffs whether we make it or not is based on this game it's Myers that defines our season

All in all, not a bad effort. Canucks are what they are. Have to keep the score down and rely on goal tending and defense. Couldn't lock it down after getting ahead and gave up too many good chances in OT. Didn't really like the way coaches managed the OT.

Good

Boeser - after looking dreadful going into the trade deadline and making himself virtually untradeable, he comes alive. Damn I wish he shown this type of touch prior to the deadline. Hopefully the team is not suckered into giving him big bucks and big term. You need to look at the total body of work which doesn't come close to justifing such a contract. I think he is moving on ahyhow.

M. Pettersson - did so much mopping up in his end. Just so consistent in getting the puck out of trouble and up to the forwards. Makes who ever he is playing with better. Excellent pick up by management in the difficult Miller situation. (thinking about Miller - we win this game if we had the Miller of last year)

Lankanin- Canucks are out of this game if he doesn't bail them out through a period and a half. Likely allows nothing if the Canucks could stop deflecting pucks by him.

Hoglander - is evolving into a decent top 9 player. Hard work is leading to chances and he is much better in the general flow of the game.

Hronek - another solid game. Has had excellent second half of the season. Hughes needs a lot of support in his own end right now and Hronek is providing it.

Bad

DeBrusk - very weak in OT and probably shouldn't have been played. I see very little second effort out of this player and he rarely seemed involved in the play in this one.

Others

Hughes - is having problems in his end. Can see skating isn't as exceptional as usual - especially handling players going wide. Getting played to death and surely isn't 100%.

Myers - seemed to get hurt mid way through the game and struggled in the third. Gutting it out but mobility seemed impeded.

EP2 - long as he is sawing things off, you're happy. Made one offensive foray in the third which showed really dynamic speed. You wonder how much offensive upside he might have. Right now he playing very conservatively.

Looks like the team is going down to the wire as far as the playoffs are concerned. Given what they've been through, you have to give the team some credit. However, I continue to think they will be cannn fodder if they do get there. So you are kinda left wondering if it's worth it.

Getting the 1 point was massive given the game in hand. I'm not too upset, definitely would've been with a regulation loss but this was a palatable outcome.

I hate to say it but it just wasn't a good game for Hughes (by his standards). He had some moments as he'll always have but tipped one in, on for another, then the OT goal in particular is a tough one.. need a regroup there.

He'll be fine. But just stating it as it was. People are blaming Pettersson for the winner (atleast on Twitter) but if anything he's the least of the 3 to blame on that play imo.

Big point. Gotta give STL credit they are the hottest team in the league, yet 2 of their 3 regulation goals were lucky deflections..

If they play with the urgency they showed last game & at times tonight.. they should do fine with their New York swing.
