I know every point matters but honestly with it being an Eastern opponent if I were Stevens I’d say something like...

“We expect our players, especially our players that we look to as leaders to act in a professional manner, Drew did not act in a professional manner on the ice today and on Thursday we’re going to have him watch a game because if it”

I know it will never happen but that might be the type of wake up call Drew needs.

I'm not even gonna get into this since some of you started hating on Doughty when he refused to fight.
Its 3-1, you get a bad call, the odds of killing a 2 minute penalty is a lot better than 4. This is about doing what is best for the team, and not the fact you feel you got screwed on a call which he did.

Stevens and to a lesser extent Kopitar called him out.
Still think he is a great player, but man, you also gotta understand time and situation.

Sure there is lots of opportunity throughout the season to solidify the playoffs, but you cannot go back, if they miss the playoffs by a point, because this game is so recent, people will point to this game as knocking them out. May not be right, fine line between winning and losing. What is so frustrating is play was stopped, so it was a controllable situation to avoid the 2nd penalty. Doughty chose to become unhinged.

Hopefully he will get a chance to make amends with some game winning goals before the season is over.

In a sense. But you're just being over the top to seek justification for the fact he didn't fight. It's evident you have an axe to grind.

He doesn't need to fight whether you like it or not, I would have. But he has a choice. Second, did make an extremely idiotic play, it's just obvious some of the anger here has another source.

It's all tied to leadership of a hockey team and not an intramural tennis team.

It's all tied together. The fact he has a letter and Brown doesn't is appalling.

Bringing up the fight question is a deflection. There are zero positive arguments for him right now. Those that have his back unconditionally know that.

He just proved my thesis. Wish he didn't.

I think the letter is Carters now that he's back. It was temporary.

I never have anyone's back. I just sense some displaced anger. And no one Is saying that it isn't his fault.

but wait, there's a clear logic why Brown wouldn't have an A after being stripped of his C

to make Kopitar's Captaincy more absolute

if Brown would still hold an A there'd be a potential rift in the dressing room as to who really is the captain

man, it's a long wait until March 8th

we have to simmer in all this negative shit for a little while

Stripping the C from Brown may have been the stupidest thing Lombardi did in his tenure as Kings GM. Making the wrong hockey decision on Lucic, Tuebert, Richards etc. is one thing, the decision to strip Brown was personal and reeked of desperation.
I think it's deeper than that. Remember when Sutter didn't have a contract and he said something like how he wouldn't come back unless the conditions were right? I think one of those conditions was stripping Brown of the C and giving it to Kopitar.

Blaming refs is a cop out, every team in the league has bad calls against them. The difference is good teams deal with it, and the Kings, or more specifically one of the alternate captains and supposed leaders does this.

i think you're mixing that saying with a playoff series
but during a game, a few bad calls can sink even the best teams
there's just not enough time in a game to recoup
sometimes you can, sometimes you won't
there were two bad calls, that lead to two PPG and with less than 10 minutes for a team to show how elite they are?
i don't buy that argument

Was it Lombardi? I'd think it would have been sutter since they were feuding. If it was Lombardi then I can see it being off sutters recommendation.

It's a cop out. No argument can be made that's valid.

See Stevens and Kopitar's comments.

This is all on number 8.
