What went wrong in the 3rd? Someone fill me in what I missed.

Bad penalty on Doughty, and Doughty starts throwing crap in the box, gets a 2nd for unsportsman, Kings kill the first 2 minutes, give up the goal on the 2nd. And the Kings lost control of the game at that point.
Pearson gets call for a penalty late and another bad call, Hawks sink the game winner

They called a bad penalty on Drew he freaked out, got another extra two minutes. PP goal. Defense collapsed and died, Quick couldn't make a save.

2+2 to Doughty (the minor call was stupid, he ran his usual mouth and got extra 2 on which the Hawks scored

Forbort with a idiotic soft pass into the slot after he blocked a shot was a gift to tie the game.

Dive by a Hawks player (Pearson called for a hook) resulted in a soft five hole goal on Quick.


The rest is history.

To do that up 2 goals halfway through the third is selfish and immature.

Games like this make you have serious pause about giving Doughty an 8 year, 90 mill type deal. Is he going to end up like Bourque, Lidstrom and MacInnis or is he going to end up like Keith?

Blaming refs is a cop out, every team in the league has bad calls against them. The difference is good teams deal with it, and the Kings, or more specifically one of the alternate captains and supposed leaders does this.

I just think at this point Doughty should have more maturity and continue raising his game. Though, I have to say his game hasn’t really continued on an upward trajectory. Gives me a pause when there’s talk of a 8 year 88 million dollar contract with him. I think you have to look at a trade, especially with the team aging and we’ll need to surround Vilardi with more talent.

Good, it was such a selfish thing to do.

I was hoping another player would have gotten to him and told him calm down, we can kill 2, 4 is much harder, especially given the schedule they just went through

I don't blame Stevens for being pissed, Doughty's lack of self control could easily cost the Kings a playoff spot. If the Kings get 2 points today they are essentially 7 points clear of Calgary with tiebreaker and 4 clear of St. Louis and Colorado. That is some breathing room.

If they miss the playoffs by less than 2 points this is the game to remember.

I love when Doughty says in interviews he's matured and grown as a leader.

That's 6-9-3. The road team is 12-3-3. The Kings have 15 points in the 18 games, and opponent has 27. Just not good.

That includes regulation losses to Vancouver, Edmonton, and Chicago. That could be a giant 6 points. If the Kings could've walked away with 3 of those 6 points it would be huge.

67% of the time the road team has left with a win. 75% of the time the road team has picked up a point.

This game is pretty much the story of what they do at home against western teams. 2 of the next 3 are against western teams, St.Louis and Vancouver. Right now, they're more likely to lose both of those games than win. At least 2 more stick breaks over their own net.

Like i said, Doughty really screwed up, but Stevens had the option of not putting the Muzzin-Martinez together and did. I forgot who was the pairing that was on the ice before, but he still had one of Phaneuf, Folin or Forbort, all who better defensive players than both Muzzin and Martinez. I get he wanted to send a message to Doughty, but not with a one goal lead. Making miss a shift, but put his ass on the ice soon after. Deal with Doughty after the game or another time
