Pettersson tried really hard tonight, he set up Boeser for a great chance (and Daccord was dropping) yet he passed.. and minutes later it was in the back of the net. Say what you want about Pettersson but Boeser has been far less effective this roadtrip. We're leaning on him right now & he's not doing much. If 8x5 is unreasonable to him then he's gone. And I've been a Brock fan & would like him to stay honestly, but this is where we are at...

the forward group needs more speed to play Tocchet hockey anyways. As I said they rarely come up ice with numbers.

3 perfect deflections was basically the game. We can win low scoring affairs off of tight checking but you just can't ask this team to score 5 goals without contributions from Pettersson, DeBrusk, Boeser and Hughes (at like 30%).

They need forwards with speed because they are the ones lugging the puck out of the zone. Dmen rarely try to stretch the opposition with passes. It's too risky for Tocchet.

In this game, Hughes made a stretch pass that connected with a skating forward and it was unusual. Last game, EP25 tried it to Garland, missed, and it was an icing. The forwards aren't prepared for it.
