LOL right?

"If I was out there I would totally do so much better which is why I'm sitting behind a keyboard eating cheesy poofs and drinking diet coke. Armchair allstar, so easy, and I'm going to get SO mad about it!!!"

We’re here discussing problems miring this team, problems that have persisted consistently for four straight seasons. You’re the crybaby who is more focused on going after posters, and evidently, it seems to be bothering you quite a bit.

Keep fighting the good fight of those who like to bury their heads in the sand. Keep living in the past, you know, the same thing you accuse others of doing when past failures are brought up.

The team is playing in the same "uninspired" way they have for the last couple of years. I'm usually one of the most positive about the team but even I can say this recent steak is just ugly. Hard to watch. The team seems to have lost it's identity, trying to maintain our shutdown defense while scoring more obviously isn't an easy task.

So with this logic I guess none of us are allowed to criticize politics because none of us are politicians?

Seems to me that the rest of the league learned to adapt and how to play the Kings, specifically those within the division. Yet the Kings are still the same team they have been for however many years.

Although we saw changes made to the personnel off the ice, the ongoing struggles of this team is very telling in what the problem is. This team has no depth at center, on the wings, on the blueline, in net. They have to constantly depend on the same three players, and that over reliance on Kopitar, Doughty and Quick to carry this team through 82-games isn’t going to work.

It didn’t work in 2015, 2016, 2017, and it sure as hell isn’t going to work in 2018. Four consecutive years of failure. And it’s the same problems every year. Lack of offense, a horrendous PP, and a lack of depth throughout the lineup. Put that all together, and you have yourself an average-to-below average squad.

Do you mean that Kings should rebuild or what?

Rebuild? nah, not yet anyway

one top 6 winger (preferably LW) to play with Kopi
and one solid stay at home or 2way D (top 4D)

is all that is missing for LA to be competitive

but if they don't fill those two spots with players that truly belong in the top 6F or top 4D, then there's really no point in keeping an aging Quick Doughty Kopitar Carter

if Blake fails by the end of summer 2018, then yes blow this shit up

Also, this is the period where i warned everyone we'll lose the bulk of our games (pat pat pat pat pat, good boy I am, good boy, pat pat pat pat)

with our next win being vs the Rangers

we should win @ VAN (but it's 50/50)
we'll definitely lose @ CGY (id suggest to not even watch that game if losing is too negative for some of you)
we'll win @ DAL
February will look better for us with the return of Carter and the return of Eastern games
but get ready for an 8 point loss on our back to back with Vegas

it is written...

One of the reason why I think this team is so inconsistent is decisions with the puck:
Doughty has the puck , he can :
1. Shoot it on net
2. Pass it into 4 guys covering Kopi
3.Try and pass it through a blocked lane to Brown
4. Pass it to Lewis behind the net, who the Ducks don't even see, who then could quickly get to Muzzin [who the Ducks have completely forgotten about] .Muzzin has a wide open shot on net, with nobody in the lane.

Doughty chose option 3! He doesn't even look at Lewis and it's a clown show til the end of the game with one blocked pass after another.

I taped the 2nd and 3rd so I could go lose my own hockey game. Not sure I should watch them now

Feeling a lot like it did last year when it seemed like nobody on the Kings could score to save their lives.

Yeah, pretty close. Last few games we've had terrible goaltending AND shooting percentage. The goaltending corrected tonight, shooting percentage should follow to some degree too. Last 3 games we're shooting 3% in all situations, lol. Since the Oilers game, it's 6%. That would be the lowest 5v5 shooting % in the NHL just about any year, never mind all-situations shooting.

I actually really enjoy Hayward in the national broadcast when they play the Kings. Gives lots of Ducks insight without being super homerish.

Hayward has always been great-to-fantastic when he's not doing the Ducks telecast. Knowledgeable and level-headed. He's just too much of a Ducks fan.

this whole situation sucks, but i'm hopeful for the rangers game, hope we turn it around from there on

If they were to miss the playoffs again, it’s something that has to be strongly considered. They need a retooling. The same faces in the same places aren’t enough to turn this team around. That would require a miracle.

i still think--in some ways similar to last year--Blake isn't going to do a thing until Carter returns and we see what we have. As painful as that is.

A lot of people thought the season was a wash at that point but we kept on chugging along despite the adversity. It appears it's finally caught up to us as other teams got stronger.

Still plenty of time to right the ship, but taking on a lot of water at a bad time.

Good game tonight, always tight games with kings and ducks.

Anyway had a question bout a player, iafallo has really caught my eye this season... specially last 2 games vs ducks... looked him up noticed he was a little older and didnt have as many points as i thought he would have... who has he been playing with? what posistion and is he just unlucky or has no scoring touch? Hes been 1 of the more noticable players when i watch LA, and was just curious as to what his potential is and what kings plans for him were.

I think management has to at least consider moving Carter, Martinez, and Muzzin this offseason. Even if the team makes the playoffs I expect them to get spanked in the first round especially if they get matched up with a Pacific team

Who do you trade for tho? What is the fix? A rebuild won’t be fun folks.

I mean, you could trade Doughty now for a wind fall but he’ll leave a gaping hole. Same with Kopi and Quick.

UFAs don’t come to LA.

Best they can do is move Brown, hope Gabby retires, maybe move Clifford. That might net you a piece and open slots for new blood.

Amadio hasn’t looked like a world beater in his limited viewings but has some potential. Tho AHL scorers have proven to mean little in LA. Kempe and Iafallo are nice prospects. Vilardi better be something special, LA could use an impact player right about now.

This era of Kings hockey is slowly coming to an end. We are kinda stuck with it. Unless you want to move out Quick, Kopi, Doughty, and Carter.

I am firmly in the camp and have been that you can reload, not rebuild and stay competitive. It would require the Kings to shed a guy like Carter for a massive haul. Few around here seem to be on board with that. With that said, desiring to see the team reload and move off some of the best trade chips the Kings have while they're still valuable doesn't make me negative or a whiner or whatever the flavor of the day on this board seems to be. This team has holes and logically it makes sense to move guys like Carter, Gaborik Martinez, guys in their 30's, for early 20's players.

Most of us expected suck. I just wanted, at minimum, fun hockey.

Early season losses were still generally fun hockey.

Now I'm watching Kopitar skate around the offensive zone boards with the puck again like he's the rabbit attached to the rail at the dog races.

It's times like this I just enjoy following the prospects during the suck.

Take a breather. Enjoy discussing, but take a break if you're not enjoying it.

Yep. As some in here know, i've already been updating the prospects nightly in the appropriate thread, maybe i'll start a 2018 draft thread if things don't turn around and they are more likely headed for a Top 10 pick than competing down the stretch.

As for moving Carter, they were doing pretty well without him. What if they had a decent roster player this entire time he was out on top of a prospect(s)?

Then Vilardi possibly makes it next year and is a solid contributor by the stretch run.

Something to think about, at least.

Vilardi has been tearing up in the OHL since he's returned which is nice to see.

Vilardi is a man amongst boys. Especially if his team wins the Mem Cup, there's nothing for him to learn in juniors. His best tools are best developed at the next level so I can see why they think he'll be in the NHL next year. Throwing his big ass frame around against kids isn't going to teach him how to physically dominate in the NHL any more than he is right now, he's unstoppable.

Straight off a 3/4 year injury layoff onto a brand new team and near 2 PPG? Get real. Kid is crazy.

Nope, you're seeing what we're seeing, kid is an animal. It's honestly baffling how/why he hasn't scored more particularly as he was a major part of the Kopitar/Brown resurgence earlier in the year. Back then, he was getting the 'third assist' like mad, being a crazy puckhound. In camp, Quick and the other goalies talked about his release a lot and how it was hard to track. Also, the coaches rave about his learning. I'd like to think he has a high ceiling based on all of that, but he's looking like a Cogliano clone more than anything right this moment (edit: I say that in a flattering way because I'm higher on Cogs than most, I'm sure that part will get taken apart here :P)
