Never been his strong suit. Frustrating for sure.

No, but he's been much better at it this year in general.

But Nashville is Nashville, too, so give them credit, two dudes forming a soccer wall immediately in front of him wasn't abnormal

Had our chances and not tight enough defensively. Feel like thats the case in a lot of our losses.

It's the common theme lately, our D is too thin for that. Folin being out hurt more than it should to a team this high in the standings, and now Muzzin out is very stark.

D-cores tonight: Josi-Ekholm / Subban-Emelin / Ellis-Weber
Doughty-Gravel / Martinez-MacDermid / Forbort-Folin

rofl

Rosen has been alluding to a LaDue callup sooner rather than later, wonder if Blake does that after the break or if he full on pulls the trigger on a d-man trade because that's a huge achilles heel right now....we defend ok, even the new guys, but most of them cannot get out of the zone cleanly. Doughty is amazing, Martinez can do it but he's on his backhand all the time, Muzzin is hit and miss lately...not one more player can do anything under any sort of pressure.

They need to generate way more chances if this is gonna be their conversion rate on chances. If not, they should forego the rush out of their zone and start playing more sound defense instead of giving up goals on giveaways/turnovers while trying to clear. Make a decision Stevens.

Agree his offense has been better this year, still could use some improvement though.

To be fair he's had five (or was it six? forget) points called back, haha. He's much better at getting his shot through in general, I'd love to see him work on it more but it is what it is at this point imo, dude is mr. everything, but he's not Burns, Klingberg, Karlsson at walking the blueline and getting it through, nor are his other players good enough at setting up decoys for him.

And btw, everyone is all over Nashville’s dick but they STILL don’t have a #1 center. Johansson does not impress. Every team has a hole. Except maybe the 2012 Kings in the playoffs.

I wasn't impressed with Nashville, but we looked all over the place at times. I know we had some rough bounces, but we didn't look that difficult to score on today. It seems like that when Quick turns off his god mode, we are in trouble.

Yeah that's what I was saying. I was far from impressed. They ARE missing Forsberg, but two 1B centers are less than impressive in Turris and RyJo. I Take Kopi and Carter over them all day; the real issue is cracking that d-core, which is gonna be insanely hard to do when they're playing that death-of-hockey 1-1-3. Ugh. Anger rising.

Quick's only won something like 3 games all season under a .930 and in those games he was still getting insane quality against him. I can't remember a game when we've made it easy on our goalies, maybe one or two all year. We've had league-best goaltending all year and we need it.

I dunno, I worry we fall into that trap where you double down on a loss by overplaying your #1. Quick is on pace to start 62 games this season despite having a capable backup. That's less than his last two full seasons, but it's not a very managed workload either, given there have been clear opportunities to start Darcy, like one of either Calgary or tonight. Especially given tonight wasn't a division game. It's picking nits though.

I guess we couldn't really have asked for a better time for bye week. We may come back from it 3rd in the division, but them's the breaks.

The Kings are 3-4-3 at home against the West, or 9 out of 20 points. The western teams coming into Staples are 7-1-2, for 16 out of 20 points, and have left LA with at least a point in 9 of 10 games. Outscored 26-22, not counting EN or SO goals. 1-4-5 in regulation. 1-3 in OT.

This is at home, where they're supposed to be able to get a matchup advantage. Maybe decrease the loss of Carter, and their issues on defense. They did lose that game against Calgary in OT with Carter in the lineup. If they make the playoffs, they're not getting out of the 1st round if they can't defend home ice against western teams.

That must be of concern to Stevens, We have the goalie to be able to ride our luck a little, but at this rate it feels like he would have to be 2012 Quick for us to get anywhere.

I don't know, there's no reason to sit your no1 netminder after a week off. Perhaps let all the bruises on D settle and then assess whether Ladue gets a callup.[/QUOTE

I should clarify my post,I was saying maybe it was time Kuemper should get a few starts.

Yup. Have to find out what kind if difference maker LaDue can be--or if he can be at all--then evaluate from there. This team is a tire fire defensively when one guy goes out.

So, just barely under 500 then? All while playing “like shit” and missing top players. It’s almost like there’s 50% of the season to go, too.

I think Quick likes being ridden like a rented mule, treat him mean keep him keen. Didn't he have a stuffed back or something needing surgery after that great season? He's a real battler.

Oh man, that would’ve been a highlight reel goal if Doughty got that.

It was the wrong move to make. Rinne is so out of position when Doughty gets the puck all he has to do is continue towards the net and pick the top corner... its a sure goal. Instead he spins right into him and gets nothing. It was the worst thing he could've done.
