Stillman should be the 3rd option to fill the last D spot. Common sense would dictate:- 1)Burroughs 2)Rathbone 3)Stillman (prefer our AHL D over him)

You can't play Rathbone with Myers. And BB doesn't want 2 righties on the 3rd pair. Again, probably because you can't trust a guy playing on his off side paired with Myers.

There's a common element somewhere in there, but I can't quite place it...

i don't really mind trading picks/prospects but two years of minor cap space, stillman, dermott, bear and studnicka is a really poor return for the picks and players (myrenberg, not dickinson) sent out

This isn't a below average 3rd pairing D going over a good or average one. This is an AHL level D that gets lit up playing sheltered minutes. Stillman is on for twice the amount of goals an average pairing D should. That's not negligible. 6 D isn't really a big deal as long as they aren't hurting you. Stillman is. That means the core has to do even more to win

Also Demko is part of the core as well. Putting Stillman on the ice means more 2 on 1s, missed assignments and giveaways for Demko to have to deal with.

Stillman - Burroughs is the 2022 Gudbranson - Biega/Stanton

Except that Burroughs is far superior to Biega and Stanton meaning the gap is much larger. And it’s not as if this organization has some massive contract commitment to Stillman either. So weird.

Stillman is a few levels of bad higher than Gudbranson as well.

It should be very telling that AHLers like Brisebois and Juulsen have done better in similar roles for their short stints and looked better than Stillman

I'm hoping that Demko is a wall tonight, and gets into the heads of the Vegas Knights players. Just like he did for the bubble playoffs.

Demko is going to have to be good to have a chance in this one.

Burroughs actually playing like an effective top 4 D and he's in the pressbox because reasons.

At least try to have meritocracy. Thought this bullshit would've been over with when Green + previous management got canned but clearly not.

I mean it has to be disheartening as a player. Easy to be confused and double guess yourself as you eventually get back in because you don't know why you're getting the bench.

There is no justification for playing Stillman over Burroughs. This is a black mark on BB's coaching career and he should be embarrassed and shamed for it.
Watching Burroughs progress the more games he played was a real pleasure for this long suffering fan base, as small a step forward it may have been. Dumping him from the roster for the likes of Myers and Stillman is just gross.

PA is clearly dictating the lineup to justify his horrific incompetence
