GDT: Germany vs Suomi @ 9am PT/ 12pm ET/ 6pm CEST

How did Germany beat Austria? Doesn't look like they're up for the task here. Which is a shame because Merilainen can't catch a beach ball. If they can somehow hang in and keep the score close, a surprise would be possible here. Merilainen is gonna give you gifts. Just a matter of time if you keep shooting.

Pennanen's lineup decisions have been questionable.

Breaking up and sitting the players on Koivunen-Helenius-Lambert line for 3 games and then going back to them anyways when the games matter. Now the players have had very little icetime to shake off the summer rust, and only 1 game to find their game as a line
Stupid is, stupid does.

How did Switzerland beat Austria is the better question I guess

How did the Swiss beat Austria?

Swiss is the clear worst team in this tournament in my opinion.

Meriläinen just can't catch the puck :(
Wrong.
Finnish dmans can't clear that goddamn puck out of defensive zone in PK.
Same goddamn problem has been there since Czech and Canada games
and nothing isn't learned Finland is one of the worst teams in PK in entire tournament and it shows.

Järventie is definitely the player who has improved their stock the most on this Finnish team. He was terrible last year and he has been great this time.
I love how him and Simontaival have been playing. And they seem to get better the longer the tournament lasts. A nice Tampere based line we have here. :)

It's been a while since we have had an elite blue line talent(after Heiskanen) anyways. Maybe Aron Kiviharju in the future?
Don’t see Kiviharju breaking the mold of the promising defenders we’ve had, they’ve all been pretty similar in terms of style. Kiviharju looks to be the best one yet tho.

But more so i just want to see a elite defender who can also shoot the puck, our PP’s are always easier to defend against than other top teams, cause you don’t have to really concentrate on the blueline shots cause It’s never getting trough, hitting the net or going pass the goalie.

It was less the Swiss winning than the Austrians losing it. Their love for boardings cost them:laugh:
And they had the bad luck of facing our nr.1 goalie. Patenaude only started 2 of 4. With Pasche we'd have lost vs Austria as well. Against the US boys it didn't matter but he lost us the Germany game with the two soft ones he let in. Patenaude is a lot better than Pasche. They're worlds apart. Not a good outlook for the december tournament.

Oh please, Kiviharju has completely another level of hockey IQ. Not even Heiskanen is in that class with it. Kiviharju is unique with his hockey IQ. Something similar to Adam Fox with it.

Fair.
Alexander Blank had probably the best game of his career 3 goals in 8 minutes and 4 points in the game total - he won the game vs Austria - not Germany

ugh missed first period due to dealing with cable company but now i can watch rest of game. update somebody lol?

Also has to be said that the Austrians hit iron three or four times vs Switzerland. So they really should have won. I think at least defensively they're better than Switzerland and Germany. Not really in terms of individual class but as a team they are.

Curious to see if the Germans can hang in here. They appeared to be under pressure late in the period. They need some possession as well or they're gonna tire eventually. But again, if they can hang around and keep the score tight, they might get some gifts. Merilainen is not a good goalie.
