Stützle looks like he probably is the best player in the tournament.

Too early to say, but his speed, confidence, and puck-control are elite, and his shot looks to have improved since last year. I'm really impressed with the physical edge he is displaying, and on top of all this, he hasn't played in a while and is coming off an injury. Just imagine if he was in prime form.

Actually, only thing impressing me with Finland is single players skill. Lundell, Lambert and especially Niemelä.

Karhukissa, please explain. Which others has impressed you? Or please, tell me about this really game winning hockey where every player buys their role and plays together in a well working unit? Because I can't se that for s*it. Move along buddy.
How can it be so hard for you to understand. This is the first game, win is the only thing what matters at this point. Their game will evolve and become better like so many times before.

This hasn't been a good game by any means, but speculating who should be there instead of these guys is just pointless.

His motor is what sets him apart. It is very rare for a top prospect to play with such incredible intensity every shift.

It is obviously hard to compare him to the likes of Turcotte, Podkolzin, Zegras, Raymond, Caufield, Söderström, Holtz and Byram. But if I had to pick one player as the best in the tournament, I would say Stützle.

Of course there's room for criticism but atleast give him and the team some time. First game in and already mad speculation about players who aren't there. How do you know that Aatu would be better than any of these guys? Nobody can know hence it's quite pointless to speculate.

What am I speculating about? Against you? Im questioning the selections and there is are fair reasons to do that. Are you mad?
Aatu has a history telling you that he is a far better player than his brother and others on this roster. Even some childish videos would convince you. Just some of the goals Aatu has produced is something others on this roster can't manage to do, so...
Tell me in what way Simontaival is better than Miettinen for example? At which level and how? Skating? Teamwork? Overall skills? God damn.
Yes it's only one game so far, but nonetheless Finland has looked like s*it in this game, end of story.

Is it just me or is the play by play guy on TSN just utterly godawful?

In like the last 5 minutes of play;

He called a penalty offside
He had to correct his pronunciation of a Finns name like 4 times
He called a player pushing the puck out of his own reach "overskating"
He announced a shot as "doesn't shoot it"
Called an obvious dump in a "missfired pass"
Finally throwing to commercial he read out a 5-3 game as 5-2...

That's Dennis Beyak, the PBP guy for the Jets on TSN. You get used to it lol

Stutzle is a beauty isn't he? I'm so excited
I gotta say I've not been impressed this game. He looked downright bad on Germany's powerplay, and overall he just seems rusty. Which was expected. He still has 1+1, he's not afraid to engage physically and he's made some skilled plays, so it's not all bad. I expect more from him in coming games.

He's looking a little tired late in the game here, no surprise. That was a lazy, flat-footed pass he made from the defensive zone up the middle of the ice to no-man's-land. I blame that on fatigue. Leads to some bad decisions, and earlier in the game he would have skated the puck to a better passing area.

Still, he's been very impressive, and followed up that bad pass with some better play, include a nice hustling backcheck.

Lambert is the future number one before Wright. I´m calling it. This stud can just fly past opponents. Even if both will become great. Lambert is something else. Will be fun to see him against Canada.

I think germany has a good chance of being the best mid-tier country in this tournament.

Disagree, have you even seen Wright? Lambert should be a surefire 2OA though.
