Honestly, Torts would of benched Kreider by the 3rd period last game.

The embarrassment might of actually caused him to show up tonight.

I miss Torts. I was 50/50 on bringing him back after Quinn because I didn't want him to ruin Laffy, but if this is the alternative maybe Torts would of been the best coach for him.

Too many passengers on this team. Even worse, it's the overpaid guys. Gallant isn't holding enough accountability.
It’s actually worse than no accountability. It’s inconsistent accountability, with clear favorites. The stars can do whatever the heck they want for weeks at a time but if the high prized prospects make a single mistake, they’re up in the press box shortly thereafter. That’s no way to build a culture.

While I too am confounded by his line choices at certain parts of the games, I really don't think the Rangers have enough players who can really move the puck up ice efficiently for them to be a good 5on5 team.

Gomez for example, he could weave around everyone on his way up ice. He had no idea what to do with it once he got there, yet point being he got there.

Nylander did the same for Jagr.

Those rushes lead to shots, or at least attempts.

Rangers right now don't really have a player like that among the forwards. Zbad, Panarin, Chytil are about it. Trocheck from time to time.

Fox is smart so he can get the puck there one way or another. Miller has some of that in his game, those rushes when he knows he is alone he weaves up the ice, gains the zone and often shoots just because the line change behind him has finally completed. Jones also has some of that game.

Everyone else has to try to pass it up ice, and when their passing is off, or the other team is taking the passing lanes away, it's just frustration.

I'm not sure any coach... I think the players either have that innate ability or they do not.

Realistically speaking; how close is GG to being gone?
I'm not sure its the right move, also not sure if its the wrong move.
9 goals against in 2 games. 12 in the last 3.

Team can't defend at all. It's time.

Coaches can do some stuff, not the stuff we want.

I mean think about it, imagine he scratches Trouba, Panarin, Zbad, etc. He's screwed if that does not create immediate results, and if not, and they pout, he's fired.

Not trying to defend Gallant, replace him for all I care, more so any coach here will do the same stuff as we've seen. They have less influence than several players who are more expensive than they are who have clauses.

Hated Renney. Hated Torts. Hated AV. Hated Quinn. Hate Gallant. Hated Sullivan. Hated Arniel. Hated Ruff.

You'll love the next guy.

It's not them, it's you.

Rangers lately are not disposed to axing a HC during the season (see DQ, AV, Torts). It’s unfortunate, becuz in this case it would NOT be the wrong move.

The one thing I’m praying for in this scenario is that Gallant doesn’t get his usual 2 seasons plus 4 months. Let’s hope Drury ends the pain this May.

What strings does he have left to pull? He did the coaches then players only meeting. He shook up the forward lines only to bail out on his plan. He admired the opposing team and rivals publicly wishing his team played like that.

Outside of a panic trade, there is nothing Gallant is willing to do. It's almost like he's asking to get fired.

LOL....I think he is owed this season and two more at 3.8 Million? a season.....I tend to think that will go much further on PEI then in Manhatten .

Stages of GGrief:

1) I can't believe he was available. He's been so good in the past.
2) We are having so much success. Why do teams get rid of this guy so quickly?
3) Some of his decisions are a little odd but we keep winning.
4) Fire him. Fire him now.

Rinse repeat for the next team.
You don't buy coaches; you rent them. There's only one Scotty Bowman.

If they make the playoffs, he stays. If not, he goes without a doubt in my mind.

Don't think they will fire him this early though for better or worse.

Next 2 games against the Sens, then Chicago b2b after the second Sens game. Lose those 3 and Drury needs to start figuring out where the season is going and plan accordingly.

Here
The next 4 games opponents have a combined winning percentage of .423.

With the recent games they've dropped, the leads they've lost and points they should've picked up if the Rangers secure less than 2 wins its very possible Gallant could be canned.

Aside from that - if the Rangers want to improve their chances of making the playoffs theyll need to get at least 6 out of a possible 8 points here. Maybe even run the table - because:

The following 4 games the opponents have a combined winning percentage of .725

Its make or break time

I liked Torts, Quinn, and Gallant. But each of these guys has a shelf life. You know it.

Gallant has been given the task of trying to "WIN NOW" per Mr. Dolan. Let's not pretend this isn't influencing his coaching/lineup decisions. That's why his focus leans on winning games as opposed to giving enough ice time to younger players to develop
WTF are you even trying to say here? After you make the ECF, it is time to try to win.

Surely 15 mins a night is enough time to develop?
I'm not a huge GG fan, and I do understand that extra PP time (especially playing with Fox) and usage is important, but Laf is 3rd in EV TOI among forwards (KK 5th) and 5th in ATOI (KK 6th). The ice time is currently there for their development

I wish Quennville was just a normal free agent coach and not one with all the baggage attached to him. He would be perfect right about now.

Yes, I don't mind Quenneville and I think Sather lakes giving 2nd chance to people with some dark past. So I guess Babcock has a chance too.
