Still all in all, quite the cool honor. Good for him, he's probably done many things for the kids. This is a man that negotiated his own contract as a player, took a team that had no business competing for the cup, and now has the "trust" from Drury and pretty much all Rangers fans, to get us what we all have been thirsting for.
Last year was a TON of fun and nerve racking, expecting more of the same this year. That's all we can EXPECT.......a CUP would be gravy.

I'm still forever grateful to Vegas for firing Gallant, so we could take him. Random thought, but does anyone know why people call him Turk? Just curious as to where that nickname comes from.
I believe he was asked this question when he went on the Missin' Curfew podcast but didn't give a real answer. Said it was just something he's been called since he was little.

Funnily enough he was informed of Gorton and Davidson being let go during this podcast.

I read this somewhere....his Uncle used to raise turkeys and Gerard as a kid would chase them around . There is a million Gallants in his small neighborhood.....and most have nicknames...guys like Toy-Toy and Biscuits...and then you have Pinky who was the dad of AHL tough guys Alex and Brett Gallant.....and don't let the name Pinky fool you....he was in all probability one of the toughest ever to lace them up as a junior/senior player in the Maritimes[RIP} played without shoulder pads ! Those Gallants were and are a tough breed .

There are two main issues as I see them and it's the same issues that plagued us last year:

1) We rely too much on Igor to stand on his game in and game out. Solution: switch up the defensive pairs. Our top-4 has been the same for a few years now and Igor still has to make spectacular saves to bail us out. Maybe switch shit up a bit? MAYBE? How about K'Andre-Fox; Schneider-Lindgren; Jones-Trouba?

2) We can't score 5-on-5. Solution: well, the solution was hoping that guys like Laf, Kakko and Krav would justify their draft status. Now? I mean I guess you switch up the lines again and keep trying to find the magic formula. Reunite Chytil (when he returns) with Kakko. Try the Kreider-Zibanejad-Laf line again. Even try Krav with Panarin and Trocheck. And get Reaves out of the lineup and bring up Rydahl.

Those saying Gallant should be fried are ridiculous. The guy coached us to the ECF last season. He's not a perfect coach...far from it. He actually leaves a lot to be desired. But he's earned coaching this team for the rest of the season. Only dysfunctional organizations make changes willy-nilly.

I supported the Gallant hire originally because I was encouraged by the progress that high end prospects like Huberdeau and Barkov made under him.

He’s completely and totally failed in that regard here. 2 years, kids still putting up like a quarter of a point per game.

He can go.

I don't want him fired and I don't really want to pile on with him but I just..........can't understand his infatuation with the 4th line and 3rd pair

they're always starting in the offensive zone. f***ing always. and they're absolutely guaranteed to not score so I don't understand why?

did anyone notice that Blais still doesn't have a RS goal as a Ranger yet?

You mean giving the 4th line offensive zone starts in a tie game in the last five minutes of an ECF game wasn’t smart?!

Blais sucks and the Buchnevich trade alone would give me valid cause to shitcan Drury.

Honestly, Torts would of benched Kreider by the 3rd period last game.

The embarrassment might of actually caused him to show up tonight.

I miss Torts. I was 50/50 on bringing him back after Quinn because I didn't want him to ruin Laffy, but if this is the alternative maybe Torts would of been the best coach for him.

Too many passengers on this team. Even worse, it's the overpaid guys. Gallant isn't holding enough accountability.
