Again the dude was working with zero reliable forward lines and zero reliable defense pairs going up against the best player in the world and another superstar. He now has one reliable defensive pair. Have fun playing those matchups.

Panarin and Copp are either hurt or drunk. They both look like they can't skate, receive passes or make passes. Strome has actually been OK by regular season Strome standards but the fact that Gallant is still under the impression that those three are his best line is what worries me most with Crosby possibly back in game 7. I am sounding like a broken record on this but I cannot comprehend why he doesn't put someone, anyone, on that line who can skate and play defense. This is the same coach who had Dryden Hunt with Panarin and Strome for large stretches of the regular season and now that that kind of mix might actually be warranted he just stubbornly sticks with two hobbled players and Strome. Just a ticking time bomb imo.
Its quite strange what is going on with those two. Is it just tigher playoff defense? Maybe they are playing more banged up than usual? I am really glad Mika and Kreids got off the skids and seem more like who we expect them to be.

Also Shesty wasn't amazing but wasn't horrible last night either. If all/most our regular season stars come together and play well tomorrow , we should win game 7 a bit less dramtically and hanging on for dear life as many of these games have seemed to be.

However Ill take any kind of win at this point . Getting to round 2 will be great for this year and future years as it will get a lot of the youth experience.

Not a fan anymore.

We need an X's and O's coach. He most definitely is not that.

He makes little to no adjustments.

All series he's been watching and he thinks giving the Panarin line this much time is the play. Ugh. We need the Brad Pitt scene from moneyball. Drury doesn't sign people to force his hand and get the kids time.

I really don't want to fight with fellow Ranger fans after this great win.
Panarin scoring a PP goal doesn't justify what we saw 5v5 this series, does it? Today, Igor willed us which is great! If we win a cup that way, we will all be happy at the end. But lets try and read the room. If the Panarin line is flying next series, give them all the minutes! If the kid line is flying, just give them more minutes. That's all we want. Not really a big ask.

Gotta give the man some credit for moving Laffy up when we needed a goal late in the game. Kid gets an honorary assist on that tieing goal, and a huge vote of confidence at that stage of the series.

I'll give him even more credit if he doesn't wait until we have 5 minutes left in our season and gets Laf more ice time in game 1!

Asked when Crosby can play again, Gallant said, "I'm told he's day to day *sniff*, so we'll see. I'm definitely counting on him to be ready in September. *sniff* We'll see."

I wanted Gallant last summer. I don’t love what I’m seeing this year as a whole, but I don’t know how anyone can complain about this team after watching AV fall off a cliff and a mediocre NCAA coach way out of his depth flounder for years. Gallant’s first year we got back to the playoffs with a great record and beat one of the most experienced teams in the league in the first round with Crosby playing the best hockey I’ve seen him play in a while.

I wish we looked better and I wish we passed the stats test, but you’re all absurd calling for him to be fired.

He said something during his presser in the morning that really bothered me.

He was asked about how to counter the Canes forecheck and he said something to the effect of "Just get the puck out beyond the blue line."

He followed it up with some other stuff about generating odd man rushes by catching people who are too aggressive (which yes, if you want to counter this aggressiveness, this is how you do it) but "just getting the puck out past the blue line" isn't the way to do it. Sometimes it works that way (see: goal #1 yesterday) but most of the time if thats your goal, all you're going to do is relieve pressure for like 10 seconds and allow them to start the process again. NO team is good enough to be perfect at this.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding him, but this sounds like some AV level "Hey! Lets let them do what ever they want and hope that our goalie holds up and that we capitalize on 1 of the 5 chances we're going to have all night."

I stand by him being the right hire, but this is NOT the way that his teams played previously.
