I think so too. If he's smart (he is in a certain way for making so much money), he should heal, recover and come back for last trilogy fight with Nate Diaz. Cause he knows he can knock Diaz down. Win it. Then leave. Because guys like Chandler, Dustin, Gaethje and Oliveria are all gonna be there in that division waiting to knock him out. He can keep up with these guys anymore.

McGregor is still a huge draw. He just lost to the better fighter. If he wants to keep competing in UFC there's a market for it, he's still under contract.

If it's a question of fighting for the belt or fighting his way up...that's up to him. McGregor would probably starch most UFC lightweights.

It's a serious injury though, he probably won't be back in fighting shape for at least a year and he's 33. A lot can happen until then. Maybe he'll want another shot at Poirier but I don't see why he'd want anything to do with McGregor at this point, he has nothing left to prove against him.

Like you've said, he could come back in the UFC. It really depends on what he wants at this point in his life/career. What would he look like though, especially after this kind of injury and considering he's already on the decline... We'll see. On the other hand, if he wants one more shot at big time money, like a stupid amount of money, a gimmick boxing match vs one of the Paul brothers would be the way to go for him imo. I have a feeling he'll go that way but of course I could be wrong.

I'm sure DP has little to no interest in doing it again as of now . He has spent enough time on this and he's going to want to focus on the belt now going forward. Conor will always be in the mix thanks to his name-value and fanbase but even he would probably admit off the record that he needs to win a fight or two to rebuild his form. Let him take on Gaethje, Chandler or Ferguson , show he can beat top guys again. If he can't, then he can go spend his whisky money somewhere and live the Ric Flair lifestyle, for good this time.

Connor needs to start at the bottom again to try and regain some confidence. Putting him in there with top 5 guys just gets him slaughtered imo.
