start of the tourney, not worried. just come out on top and build from there.

positives are that our expected top guys like Gaudreau and Johnson are producing. that is a great sign early on. keep them rolling from start to finish.
You do know that the tournament hasn't started yet, right?

To me, the biggest strength or weakness is going to be the youth. A lot of these guys aren't "name" players in the NHL yet, but there is a fair amount of talent.

It wasn't really discussed here but these were the lines listed for yesterday's game...

Nelson-Johnson-Smith
Gaudreau-Stapleton-Wingels
Abdelkader-Trochek-McDonald
Mueller-K.Hayes-J.Hayes
Extras: Miele, Shore

DeKeyser-Trouba
McCabe-Jones
Gardiner-Petry
Donovan-Murphy

I was only able to watch bits and pieces of the game but it seemed they were juggling things up a bit over the course of the game.

I think Gaudreau is going to be one of the best players in the tournament.

I think if we want to go far Craig Smith, Gaudreau and Johnson will all need to be big time scorers. That and Tim Thomas needs to not be terrible.

I thought this team would be well served by bringing young, talented and hungry players. While many wrote them off for lack of NHL experience, I thought the group could work out well. I didn't think we'd do this well in our first game against the hosts but :yo:

A 2-0 record is huge for this squad. A tough matchup against Russia on Monday but these boys can hang tough as long as Timmy keeps it up. Overall happily rooting for these guys as they are easy to like and watch. Need to shore up some things but otherwise solid first two outings. On a side note is it me or does Gardiner look a step slower then everyone else out there? His decision making and slow timing has been a bit puzzling to me so far.

I didn't see today's game, but I was thinking the same thing during the game against Belarus.

Thought today was a good example of gutting out a win. They sort of stumbled after the first few minutes but a win is a win.

The US started making terrible offensive zone entries during long stretches of Saturday's game. When they do get the cycle going and keep it going it is very effective.

Powerplay fizzled a bit but I like Gaudreau as the QB. My god what hands! Johnson and Smith need to wake up a bit more. Overall I like the first two games.

I really like the Hayes and MacDonald line even though Laviolette broke it up at times in the Swiss game. That's a lot of Corn Beef!

It really did seem like the only way they got in the zone on the PP in the second half of the game was on Gaudreaus stick.

Gardiner has been a big factor in the second power play unit stinking it up with the bad zone entries. As others have said he's been a disappointment thus far.

Johnson and Smith have been effective IMO. They're scoring goals out there, if only on the power play.

The Hayes-Hayes-MacDonald line has been effective but Trochek has not been effective on the second line and I suspect they moved Kevin Hayes up there to take advantage of his chemistry with Gaudreau.

Great start to the tournament. Is it sad that I'm planning my monday around watching the game tomorrow?

...in my defense I am done with finals.
