So, with Luongo in Florida now, and obviously not going to be in the playoffs, any chance he will join the team? Seen as he only played one game in the Olympics, he might be interested.

...alternatively, after being held to one game at the Olympics, he might not be so anxious to suit up for Canada at something like this.

Well, if he will, Team Canada will finally have a quality goaltender for WHC :yo:

G: Luongo, Ward
D: Myers, B.Campbell, Hamonic, Giordano
F: Hodgson, Moulson, E.Staal, J.Staal, Skinner, Spezza, Hall, Eberle, Nugent-Hopkins, Cammalleri

Hope that especially the bolded players will participate.

I expect all the Olympians to be given a get out of jail free card on this year's WHC. I'll be shocked if any answer the call. But you never know.

Not sure about Spezza, sub him for Kyle Turris.

If Dallas is out I can see Benn going. He's young, and presumably his linemate Seguin is a lock for an invitation.

I of course think that it is essential that all the 1st. time Olympians go (Benn + Duchene) if they think they cemented their spots on the NT they should be "re-educated" a tad. but unfortunately Hockey Canada makes it easy for them to take a pass.

Adam Henrique on an incredible hot streak at the moment..could make a great 2nd or 3rd line center for the WHC -- reunited with with T. Hall from their junior days. They could make something happen at the WHC. Although I really can't remember if they played together a lot in Windsor.

And generally I'm a big Staal family booster...but I'd take a pass on all Staal brothers this year. esp. the 2 Carolina boys.

I think Jordan would go and be used for defensive/PK purposes. Don't know who else on par with him defensively would be able to go.

re: Jordan. before doing that I'd rather wait to see what becomes available after the 1st. rd. of the playoffs before asking either one of the Staal bros. or if they even accept the invite to play, and given what Eric went through last year, that's unlikely he would want to.

But I bet Hockey Canada goes all in and names Kirk Muller as Head Coach with the Staal bros/Skinner and Co leading the charges. Carolina/Edmonton/Buffalo players making up most of the team....I'm not sure I like that all that much.

Ladd and Kane should be locks for Canada, but I think Scheifele could creep in there as well. He was playing at a PPG pace before he got injured.

Long shot is Devin Setoguchi.

Random Question here, but do you think we will ever see Crosby play at the WC again? Obviously Pittsburgh will contend for the cup the next 5 + years but even if they don't, will we see Crosby play in this tournament?

Gut says no, if the Pens somehow do miss the playoffs in the next 10+ years I would suspect he would take the long offseason which he has never had in the NHL.

Hall, RNH, Eberle, Perron (and too a lesser extent Schultz) should all receive a request. Heck, maybe even Scrivens at this point if any of the more established guys turn down the request. Thats almost a 3rd of the team, damn.

Really? Your a Jets fan? No Little. 52 points, leading the team. Best penalty killer, and I would even go as far as saying best complete all around game on the Jets. Little should be a lock, as should Ladd. I don't see Kane or Scheifele getting an invite at all really.

Same here, I think this will be one of the worst Canadian teams assembled in a while. I've made my point about having the WHC in an Olympic year so I won't get into that. But I don't blame any of the Olympians for saying no. Who the hell wants to fly over to Belarus after a long season and already winning an Olympic gold to play in a second tier tournament? I know I wouldn't. Jonathan Bernier could get the call in net if the Leafs get eliminated early. Phaneuf, Rielly, could be options for Canada as well. Kadri, Lupul..who knows.

Anyway I'd love if we could win this tournament so we can shut up a lot of people on here who put any legitimacy into the IIHF world rankings. Being Olympic Champions (World Champions) and being World Champions #2 would look good.

My roster includes 3 Olympians (although I doubt we get any) and players who I think will make early exits from the POs.

Although I'm inclined to drop RNH altogether and instead work C Macarthur into the lineup as both he and Turris have been outstanding this year for the Sens.

This is still a good roster. If they had a good preparation and some time for it, they could win it. Everything is possible. It's also about heart, attitude and preparation, not only about names.
