I've been wondering if the Providence GM assignment is an indication this might be Sweeney's last contract as GM and they're grooming Gold to take that position in a few years. Provy GM was Sweeney's last job before taking over Chia's seat.

Sweeney to Neely's position would be fine by me if Gold slid into the vacated Bruins GM spot. Neely to promotional appearances and "Special Advisor" in title only. It's all speculation on my part, but I feel Neely's meddling has been a hindrance to the rest of the organization.
