Goal 3 against Neilsen. He missed the pokecheck and it went 5 hole I think. I can kind of give him a break on that one since he missed the pokecheck, and it left him opened up. I really didn't like that one after the second Grabner one.

I had no problems with the first Grabner goal. A lot of other people did, but I did not.

yeah - he's looked bad when he misses the poke checks.

Tough to chalk up to bad positioning, bad decision making or... It would have been nice to see him stop that though...

I just don't think Marty looks very good in October for the most part. It's not really because he's older, I think it's been this way for a while now. He's had sub par to bad October's since 05. Even in some of his early years October was not his strongest month.

He was very good in January of last year though, after the lockout ended.

Schneider has only gotten us one point so far because we've been shutout in 2 of the games he started. He played better against the Jets than Marty has played this season so far.

Marty also let in two softies against the Islanders and we lost that game by one goal.

That and by the BCS tracker Cory's had the harder schedule too....Pens, Nucks and Jets compared to Marty facing the Oilers, Flames and Isles.

I think Marty gets Saturday no matter what so I'm a bit meh that he's getting tomorrow too. Marty doesn't sit Ranger games unless he's hurt.

If we lose he definitely won't start Saturday.

I am curious about what happens if we win though. Do you stick with the goalie that finally got you a win? Depends on how he looks of course, but that is where the rub is.

I guess we will find out kinda sad we have not been able to test that theory yet..

I think the goalies don't wanna sit every other game.

If we're winning I really don't have a problem with starting whoever. It would be asinine if Marty started the Rangers too, even after losing to the Sens.

Who knows though, Marty could stand on his head against the Senators, just like Cory against the Jets. And just like against the Jets we might still lose.

Our last two games were very good goaltending wise, and it's a shame that we lost the game with those kind of efforts in net. We barely tested McNugget or Dryden, I mean Montoya.

As someone else said too. We constantly make Evander Kane look like the second coming of Gretzky. He's a good player for sure, but we always struggle with him and the Jets.

He's going to alternate until one of them wins for sure. Be mad all you want but Marty got us 2 pts while Scheider got us 1 so far. Plus I'd rather Cory play against the struggling Rangers anyways since they haven't seen him enough to know his style or tendencies like Marty.

At this point I almost hope Anderson is in net rather than Lehner too. Lehner has been lights out both in his starts and relief of Anderson who's been up and down.

Seriously? The Devils have scored a total of 2 goals in the 3 games Schneider was in net.

Hopefully pete plays schneider against the rangers.

That has been a huge problem in games Schneider has played, for sure. The team doesn't wanna help him get a win, so they get shutout 2 of the 3 times he was in net.

You absolutely have to get a win against bad teams like the Jets, Flames, and Oilers. You can lose to one of them, but if you're struggling you need to beat two of them. I firmly expect all of those teams to be in the bottom 10 in the league, or bottom 8 even. We might be too if we can't get some wins against those teams. In before another fan of Winnipeg comes in here and tells me they're actually really good.

I can totally see Marty starting on Saturday, even if he loses tomorrow, just because its the Rangers. I don't want that to happen but I'm mentally preparing for it so I don't throw a temper tantrum like everyone else will when TG tweets, "Brodeur to start on Saturday".

Clever girl. Hang all the losses on Marty while you can so when they finally start winning it looks like it was thanks to Cory and it's not even a debate who should be starting the rest of the season.

That Pete's a genius.

I can totally see Marty starting a lot of games. I can still see Schneider having to sit a few after losing a couple close games when the team actually scores some goals. I've been predicting it all Summer, along with other crap like Volchenkov and Harrold in the everyday lineup. You just Know it's gonna happen sooner or later.

Deboer started Clemmensen for a stretch over a healthy Tomas Vokoun a few games back in 10-11. Never underestimate a coach who makes a braindead decision like that's, ability to make head scratching decisions.

Even though save percentage totally says that Schneider has been better, I know that you don't like statistics when they don't agree with your agenda, so I'll revert to an old favorite people use against me:

Did you even watch the games? VAN and WIN were the Devils' two worst performances of the season by far, and Cory kept us in it. Meanwhile Marty let in questionable goals against NYI and EDM that cost us the win.

While I agree with you for the most part, I still think Edmonton was the worst performance. Despite playing well for the first 45 minutes of that game. That was a full on chernobyl style meltdown.

We were bad for all but the first 3 minutes of the Winnipeg game. The Vancouver game we played well at times, but overall we were outplayed pretty badly. I think we were outplayed by Calgary too.

You said last year any save % below .920 is not good enough. Cory's is only .908 right now - uh oh.

And what agenda is that? Mentioning points when the coach is choosing who to start in a rotation based on results because his job is surely on the line?

Some agenda. It's a rotation with nobody winning and wins are what we need whether they are ugly or all pretty.

The Perron and Ference goals had little to do with our team play and should have been stopped, although the Hall goal was a brutal breakdown.

The question I was referencing was who has been better this year, not if Schneider has been good.

Wins are brought about by scoring goals, playing good team defense and getting good goaltending. Martin Brodeur and Cory Schneider only control the last facet.

I agree that Schneider certainly hasn't separated himself from Brodeur yet to command a lion's share of the starts, but he has definitely played better.

I don't give a rat's behind who is playing better.

I just want a friggin' WIN in regulation!!!

Can't we get that for a change?

Is it too much to ask?

It didn't get deflected - the other goal got deflected. Henrique and Bernier did a great job screening a shot 1 foot off the ice just inside the post though.

Softie for sure.
