If the majority weren't on board with Larsson for Yak, it would be even slimmer for the Schneider for him.
I'm not really worried about him re-signing. Marty will be gone by then and the job will be unquestionably his.
the outlook of the team could be completely different 18 months from now.
the last thing I am worried about right now is Schneider re-signing. and I think Lou will get it done early, aka next summer.
I really really hope if we suck we turn Jagr into a 1st round pick. Would be so huge to get a 1st rounder even if it's pick 25+. Would soften the blow of not having a pick a little.
Getting two pick in the top 40 would be great
Lol at this rate we'll be picking 31st.
Which will really be the 30th, since there will be one pick less in the first
So the joke's on Bettman, since we'll still be picking in the 1st round
I get that... but having a pending UFA (in 2 years), at a position that seems relatively easy to replace according to our board last year, it wouldn't be all that bad IMO.
I'm not hating on Schneider at all. In fact, I think he's our best asset but everyone seemed to think that landing a netminder was the easiest of things cause there's so many quality goalkeepers around the league and there's only 30 starting jobs.
I just think we'll have to face reality head on and live with the fact that we'll need to rebuild sooner rather then later and with the performances we've been putting up, I just don't see why Schneider would choose to stay here when he'll have all the options in the world in 18 months from now.
God knows how great our odds are of keeping our own stud pending UFA's
He would leave because the team would suck. If we're staying competitive, I doubt he leaves. If we suck, I doubt he stays. If there are only 30 starting jobs and a big supply of goaltenders that can start and we can offer one of those to Schneider in two years along with a reasonable contract, why would he leave?
I predict when Clowe is ready, Gionta will be waived. They're not gonna keep Clowe out of the lineup after those two games if he ready to go, just because they don't wanna waive somebody.
Especially if Gionta goes 8 games without a point.
Any chance Lou will try to extend the forfeit? Seems more plausible than getting it completely revoked. Le sigh.
