Ha. Hughes was shit. He was not alone, but my he was bad in his own zone.
I don't think any of the Hughes brothers are really known for their defensive prowess, mostly just their ability to produce offense.

Yep, that's their game yet we all know that when an offensive defenseman struggles in his own zone is a very easy target. :D Thought Hughes was also making poor choices in the offensive zone as well.

Anyone been following Isak Rosen at all? 4 points in 12 to start was kind of promising, but has 0 in 13 since. If I recall Davidsson and Asplund were putting up far better numbers in their D+1 in the SHL.

I look at the pick as found money because Risto had no business getting the 13th overall. Production is still disappointing though, he must be playing very little. Let's see how he does at the WJC.

Too good for juniors but still too weak physically to make much impact at SHL level so he doesn't get much ice time. It also doesn't help that Leksands is one of the top teams so has a veteran lineup they ride as they play a more defensive game

Just watched a compilation of every gold medal goal scored at the World Junior in the 2010s.

Man this tournament is special every single year. I love it and I’m super excited for it.

Coach Appert:

"Competitive as hell, fun, and curious" (Quinn)

"Silly, explosive, and dynamic" (Peterka)

"Warrior, absolute warrior" (Malone)

"One of the best leaders that I have ever had the privilege of coaching. If he was a better skater he would be making $8M a year" (Mersch)

Appert regarding Aaron Dell's leadership:

"At the beginning of the year he requested Quinn, Peterka and Weissbach to be the shooters for goalie sessions. He would talk to them about where they should think about shooting, what NHL players would do."

"He and JJ Peterka have formed a really quick, close bond."
