It’s not “misinformation”. This is a very complex problem and they are doing the best they can with limited understanding while lives are at stake. If the worst thing is that you’ve washed your hands more than normal well, given the alternative... boo f***ing hoo. Not sure why that’s hard to understand.

It's not the washing hands though, the poor information led to the lockdowns. It led to the canceling of elective surgeries, which will kill people. It led to thousands not being diagnosed with cancer early enough, which will kill people. It led to people being terrified to get crucial medical treatment and dying at home. It led to vaccination rates plummeting for children. It led to an increases in domestic abuse. It led to significant spikes in suicide prevention hotline calls. It led to millions who will face starvation.

I hate that people respond with shit like "Boo f***ing hoo you have to wash your hands" or "you can't get a haircut". Do you think that the lockdown measures are perfectly safe, with the only consequence being additional hygiene?

Not true, 4.6% of those who died were undecided or not sure regarding the number of comorbidity health factors they had at the time of death.

Every poll has this as some people just can't seem to have an informed opinion on anything.

Unfortunately it seems more and more every day that those people who can't have an informed opinion...reside in Washington DC as a whole.

Not to mention the additional troubles that will be caused by massive unemployment.

In the post I quoted, literally all that was complained about was washing your hands, wiping down your groceries and having to use hand sanitizer. If people have something else to say then say it. If I could read minds I wouldn’t be posting here, that’s for damn sure.

Also postponing elective surgeries is killing people? Right. Hospitals are still open for people who need care during all this you know, and they’re probably the safest place you could be other than your home unless you’re in the covid wing.

Who is skipping vaccinations for their kids because of “misinformation”? Dumbasses maybe. I have two kids under 3 and they’re both getting their shots on schedule, and that’s with one of the doctors at my pediatrician’s office having tested positive for covid.

Finally I have no idea why some people are acting as if surfaces being a main vector for transmission or not is the lynchpin to the whole lockdown. If they discover it’s not, why not treat that as great news instead of the next thing to bitch about?

I think the opening of California is going come very fast by the opening of all of the casinos. Here in the desert all of them are opening Friday, announcing in conjunction that all restaurants and bars within will be open with seating adjustments for distancing. Gov. Newsome asked them not to open, but being that they are sovereign nations, they don't have to comply. I think this is why Newsome changed the phased opening to be county based and also based on looser restrictions.

Be interesting to see how those casino's open......for slots, it's probably easier, they close every 2-3 slot machine etc, but for table games, even if you close every other table, unless you are dealing one person to a table, I don't see how that's gonna work, I love casino's and I wouldn't be going to one now.

I've noticed that Long Beach is going to close some streets to allow for more outdoor dining for space. That's awesome and I hope some of our locals do the same.

Right, we haven't even seen the beginning of the fore closure's that are coming. I'm in the market for a rental property in state or out of state and the prices haven't seem to adjusted at all.

I wouldn't hold my breath. Anyone with secure assets is thinking like you, so unless you can get something off-market, the same supply-demand issue is everywhere, particularly high-rent socal.

A little different for investment properties obviously and some people are already selling off to be liquid but most of my lender friends are working with companies who are allowing those forebearance payments to be balloons at the end of the mortgage rather than, like, September this year. The only potential opportunity I see for a mass hungry-hungry-hippos grab action is over-leveraged AirBnb owners in resort towns selling off their entire portfolios.

Wait, are you serious? You do realize that elective surgeries are things like tumor removals and treatments for heart valves right? It is basically anything that is not immediate. Delaying those very much can kill you.

Coronavirus: California hospitals can resume most elective surgeries

New York Mayor de Blasio says number of kids getting vaccinated is down more than 60%

Finally I have no idea why some people are acting as if surfaces being a main vector for transmission or not is the lynchpin to the whole lockdown.

Because misinformation is what led us down this path. How many different potential deaths, different transmission possibilities and different symptoms have been thrown out there over the past few months? I mean, New Jersey and Colorado just dropped their Covid death total by 25% because they were classifying overdoses and accidents as Covid deaths, numbers don't even seem to mean anything anymore. The CDC really should have a solid grasp on things before throwing information out there.

one of my friends is a realtor his educated guess was 3-6 months.

his rationale: people don't HAVE to sell their houses yet because of the government help, hold on foreclosures and mortgage payment delays.

I hope this helps

The vast majority of homes in America have massive equity, too. Most people could simply refinance. Unless unemployment numbers STAY huge, which is unlikely unless this thing takes a nasty turn, there's really no reason for there to be any sort of housing market correction outside of the usual 7 year cycle that we're overdue for (which would be a few % points, not the huge dump like 2008, which is commonly but inaccurately expected).

I am pretty sure they will just limit the number of seats at a blackjack table, or the number of people around a craps table. Pretty easy to do in terms of distance, but you are going to be picking up chips, dice, etc. which others have touched.

In Vegas, they put up plexiglass at the tables much like you see in the stores now...but yeah not sure what they've done about chips and stuff as you point out. Hand sanitizer everywhere? That's a tough one. A lot less fun if they just have video-poker style card scans, haha.

True, but it is more difficult to refinance if one of both of the spouses are on unemployment.

My girl is on UI right now and we were able to refinance on only my income because I am a baller with magic legs

Yeah, hand sanitizer might be what happens. I think as long as people aren't touching the chips, etc. then touching their face, they will be ok. I could see the "shooter" at a craps table being required to use the hand sanitizer prior to picking up the dice, and maybe changing out the dice every shooter while the spare dice is under a UV light. Playing cards, I don't think they can do much about, because of the way they stack. Who knows?

I'm somewhat in the market for a home purchase and I feel like I'm seeing new listings that have a discount baked in to the listing price already. Recent closings were already under contract so the newer listings are more a reflection of where we are currently at.

Now, this discount isn't huge but I think it is happening.

OC death watch
There were 14 deaths today, 10 were SNF residents.
Lack of proper protocols, or lack of enforcement at SNF's is one of the big reasons why deaths in California (and other areas like NYC) have not shown a more dramatic decline.

How Florida handles SNF residents who have tested positive for COVID-19.

Florida transferring nursing home residents with coronavirus into hospitals

Florida has been mass-transferring residents with coronavirus out of nursing homes with outbreaks and into local hospitals since Sunday, regardless of whether they show signs of the virus.
So far, health officials moved 57 residents out of Manor Pines Convalescent Center in Wilton Manors into four Broward County hospitals. In Miami-Dade County, health officials have transferred 104 residents of Fair Havens Center in Miami Springs, along with 35 from Pointe of North Gables assisted living facility. In Palm Beach County, 16 residents have been transferred out of Renaissance Health and Rehabilitation in West Palm Beach.

Depends on what you mean by 'discount.'

Instead of double-digit year-over-year price appreciation (absurd), it's single-digit year-over-year (more normal) price appreciation.

When you see price drops on homes on market, those are typically ones that were priced ahead of the market using last year's numbers. I've seen a lot of appraisals reflect this, too.

In my area, stuff that's priced right is still gone in days, sometimes hours. Stuff that's not will sit for all eternity.

I definitely think there's gonna be slow growth or at least flat prices. But I think anyone holding out for more than a ~5% drop is gonna get caught holding the bag, especially in high demand areas, and even then, a half-percent increase in mortgage rate will offset any money 'saved' and will be a person paying off interest instead of principal.

Except for full-cash buyers, those are the folks getting punished most.

But of course, I can't pretend to have a crystal ball. This shit is all weird. But what I've seen in the last two weeks especially is confidence as if nothing ever happened and each city selling 50 homes but only putting 20 on the market.

True, and to be honest, if you are in a casino handling chips, and cards, and cash, and you aren't aware enough to not touch your face I don't think any safety measures would have helped you......

Indeed

And like last time LA and OC would see the % drop that say the IE will. But places like Central CA and Arizona will see even higher % drops
