Huge case drop from 2-3 weeks ago when it was over 10K/day. Even just from last week, it's dropping fast percentage wise. All good news....let's keep this positive momentum going!

Numbers are looking better, even a bigger hospital drop today with ICU down as well.

And the tune is changing. FYI I was vaccinated, boosted and managed to not get Covid until December 30 last year. It had me laid out for 12 days and still dealing with Covid fog.

The CDC is finally recognizing 'natural immunity' — legislators should follow suit

I have no problem with previous infection equivalency to vaccination as far as going back to work and such, they are pretty much the same as far as infectivity. As long as the infection wasn't any longer than 6 months ago I'd consider them the same as a fully vaxxed person. But just like a vaxxed person needing a booster, those with priors would need them after 6 months as well.

So strange. Either way, I’m going to let the infection completely clear from my household, and then get boosted.

I really hope someday we get a better sense of the transmission of this thing. So many scenarios seem to defy sense on who got infected and who didn't.

What disease (non Covid) was it where they finally found the transmission was so deadly in big cities because of apartment building airflow? I'm feeling like we're going to bump into something like that eventualy.

Why is this happening? This was the point I was making two months ago...you cannot compare U.S. to other countries...too many dynamics (an aging population, vaccine hesitancy and outright refusal, low booster rates, high obesity rates, etc.).

It's happening because Americans are sort of dumb, to put it bluntly. Because of our fortunes and position as a world leader for a long period, people tend to think they aren't subject to the ills of the rest of the world. Areas with money, better access to education, and a higher overall academic level are doing ridiculously better than areas that don't have those characteristics. OC hasn't even matched it's death rates for the very first wave of COVID yet, even though other states are getting hammered again.

Survival of the fittest is a very real thing, and in COVID"s case, unfortunately has a lot of collateral damage. Just because humans can change their environment, alter carry capacities and such doesn't mean we aren't subject to the basic tenets of biology. Combine this with a prolific information exchange system rife with misleading material and confirmation bias and this is what you get. I firmly believe that if COVID hit in the 90's we wouldn't have nearly the death rates we have seen, even without our current improved technologies.

Hey, long time no talk. Good to see you back again. I went back and checked out the preprint from Israel and it's still standing at preprint which means it still hasn't passed peer review and no medical journal has published it yet. My only thought was waiting on the data to actually be reviewed before considering the study. I also recall there some things they admitted were going to be difficult to measure like immunity over time, emergence of variants and admitting being vaccinated combined with natural immunity was far superior, etc. Plus this was before boosters. I'm interested to see if anyone eventually picks it up to publish it. Feel free to ping me if you're following it. It definitely got cited in news articles but that's the one thing I caution against with this media is that just because a study occurs, doesn't mean it was done properly. Outlets are selling to boost their clicks and likes. It's really eroded journalism and I think that and both political parties are going to need to reinvent the wheel to get this country back on track.
The CDC study actually showed that natural immunity benefitted very little from vaccination. Also there have been plenty of other recent studies showing natural immunity to be longer lasting than vaccine Induced immunity. But regardless the science is pretty clear at this point that Natural immunity provides excellent protection.

Note the message at the top. Tomorrow's case count should be abnormally high

Hosp 620---> 619
ICU 123---->125
Yes, the reporting anomalies could lead to wrong conclusions. It might not even be tomorrow, if the CalREDIE system can't catch up in time. It's always better to view these over weekly averages; however, we can't do that in Orange County because the dipshits take the weekends off, as though they were running a bank.
