That was funny AF but that guy's opinion shouldn't count for anything. It's very safe to assume that he drank Zima

Note to Zima guy: Qui Gon was the protagonist. The fight was called Duel of Fates because it determined Anakin's future. Anakin's father figure died and Obi-Wan was left to train a kid he called a useless life form a few space hours earlier and that duel forever changed the course of the galaxy.

The most improbable scenario in these movies was how a 19-year old whiny b**** like Anakin hooked up with a mature self aware 24-year old queen.

A vaccine is going to take some time according to Dr. Fauci.

https://nypost.com/2020/06/23/dr-fauci-warns-coronavirus-vaccine-might-take-some-time/

The warning that it may take time was laid out in Fauci’s written congressional testimony Tuesday. It gave way to more upbeat oral remarks, with Fauci saying he was “cautiously optimistic” a vaccine will be ready by “the end of this calendar year and the beginning of 2021.”
The infectious disease expert said in his prepared testimony that a COVID-19 vaccine “will be essential” to ending the pandemic, but is not imminent. Instead, Fauci said, he urges the public to get a flu shot to “help conserve scarce medical resources” later this year.

In Fauci’s written remarks, he said, “The rigorous clinical testing required to establish vaccine safety and efficacy means that it might take some time for a licensed SARS-CoV-2 vaccine to be available to the general public.”

that still seems quick to me

Rushed vaccines have had some bad consequences and the last thing we need to do is give the Jenny McCarthys of the world any ammo

An article discussing the possible explanations for deaths in US continuing to drop notwithstanding the recent increase in cases.

Why hasn’t the second COVID surge led to more deaths? | Spectator USA

Good write up, and again goes back to the 1% theory I talked about before. The sum of incremental 'little' measures is a big difference.

Anecdotally my friends in COVID units point out how much better prepared the 'average' worker is to handle it. Training, experience, and little mini-breakthroughs in treatments make all the difference and they're well-rested and better prepared to handle a surge now than in March.

It's what makes politicized masks such a stupid problem, that's the lowest hanging fruit that can make the biggest difference for the least inconvenience before someone hits the hospital.

People who are at-risk may have to weigh the potential benefits vs the side effects. Doing research on the number of steps that get skipped on the way to a vaccine is crucial information to make such a decision.

I would appreciate it if the medical experts would be more forthcoming and just provide the information, and let informed people do their own research and make their own decision. Unfortunately, I think there have been too many government health experts providing misleading information then contradicting themselves later. The whole don't wear a mask / wear a mask thing is a perfect example. Early on, why not just tell us wearing a mask will reduce your ability to infect someone else. Right now we don't have enough masks and the medical professionals and the patients they are working with need them more than the general public.

Simply put, because people are assholes and would never listen to the bolded. Plenty of people still refuse to wear masks for the greater good, plenty of people would refuse to stop hoarding masks for the greater good.

My doctor friend says admissions are doubling all over So. Cal. Orange County, Fontana, Baldwin Park. Most are non-ICU.

Every patient being admitted for treatment of a non-COVID-19 issue is also being tested for COVID-19. Hospitals are marking anyone admitted who tests positive as a COVID-19 admission. In my opinion this is skewing the data.

It is true anyone with a positive test should be counted as a COVID-19 case, but not all COVID-19 cases are equal in severity.

I know people are now pointing to the potentially significant long-term health impact of contracting the virus. I would like to see more data on the demographics of those suffering serious long-term effects.

Something I found out yesterday, so even after all of the nursing homes deaths there is still not a policy to test every person going into one of these homes for general rehabilitation in California. So for context my friend works at both a rehab/nursing home center and she said they are not testing anyone who comes through the doors, however she also works at an infusion clinic and at the infusion clinic you can not come through the door if you haven't been tested for COVID. My other friend who is a doctor at a local hospital says they are seeing a rise in cases because they are testing every single person who is coming through the door for all procedures, shoulder surgery, knee surgery etc. They are seeing a jump in cases but it is because they weren't previously taking on any of these surgeries during the lockdown. Also to note 99% are asymptomatic, so those people are told to quarantine at home for two weeks before they can get their surgery.

26 deaths in OC today, not kidding 26!

ok this was apparently playing some catch up? over and 18 day period?

Note from the County

Hello, #OC. We’ve posted today’s case count updates to COVID-19 Case Counts and Testing Figures | Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). While this is the highest number of deaths reported in one day, we’d like to remind the community that the deaths reported to us today does NOT mean 26 individuals lost their lives today. A concentrated effort was made to compare death certificates received from the County Office of Vital Records to existing cases in the State’s CalREDIE reporting system, resulting in the confirmation of 26 new deaths. We’re providing this level of context for residents who actively track our data and may find it helpful; but want to express our sincere sympathies for the lives lost to this virus (no matter the day ). #OCCOVID19

be sure to click on the picture
not show are
681/ : 1
6/21: 1
6/22:1
and that they equal 26

So this really f***s up our rolling 7 day average the SNF deaths went to 152 from 138, so 14 of these 26 "add ons" were SNF

IDK if this means 0 deaths today since those 26 are accounted for from past dates in the image?

Only the government...lol

I am going in for an outpatient procedure next week, and I haven't heard a peep about taking any test.

By testing for Covid you mean they take your temperature? Which can be defeated by taking an Aleve before you leave your home. When I go to the hospital, it's the same series of questions, they take my temperature and I wear a mask the entire time.

Just had my second child a few days ago. Thought it was interesting that EVERY nurse out of the 8 or so that we had assigned to us think this whole Covid crap is stupid... the mask wearing is pointless and it’s basically the flu from what they all were saying...
