Blake Out of Hell III: Back in to Hell
Just had my second child a few days ago. Thought it was interesting that EVERY nurse out of the 8 or so that we had assigned to us think this whole Covid crap is stupid... the mask wearing is pointless and it’s basically the flu from what they all were saying...
My wife is a mother/baby nurse and does not feel the same way as your nurses.
Just like most things in life, people don't give a shit unless it directly impacts them or they are at least not-too-far-removed from being impacted. Nurses are people just like everyone else and--just like everyone else--they are tired of staying home and not being able to do anything. On top of that, they wear masks all day during a 12 hour shift so they aren't exactly keen on wearing one away from work.
My wife doesn't think it is "just the flu" but she is also liberal with the mask while walking outside. She is also an aesthetician and has resumed providing services in what would be considered a "high-risk" occupation. Of course, she married me so she obviously has a penchant for high risk activities.
Anyways, nurses aren't experts on COVID. You could argue there aren't any experts on it with how things keep changing but I won't get in to that. What I will say is that erring on the side of caution and doing things like wearing a mask when appropriate and maybe walking a few feet over when crossing paths with someone isn't a big deal. We've been going out to eat and I run outside without a mask: I've even gone back to the gym so I'm probably not liked too much by those that wear a mask to take a dump in their own house and still won't go outside. That said, I run away from the sidewalk and zig/zag on the beach path or run on the edges of the bike path to minimize close contact as much as possible. When walking around the neighborhood, I'll wear the mask and then lower it when there isn't anybody around.
Am I helping? I have no f***ing idea but it isn't like I'm being asked to wear a Ducks jersey around town so BFD.
