michigan is going to give quinnipiac some good looks, that's for sure. this game should stay interesting
I actually have problem with this kind of late round asset consolidation if the analytics and scouting department have high marks on a player that has fallen well below where they would have drafted them. If you have a higher level of certainty, then pull the trigger. Those low round picks only have a 5-7% chance of ever playing an NHL game. They traded up for both him and Cederqvist when there were indications both would be available when the Sabres picked. They used four late selections to take two players.
Edit - it was 102 for 122 and 175 where they picked Huglen at 102.
Edit - and it was 177 and 191 to get Cederqvist at 143... he was an OA.
This could be a 4-3 or tie game if not for Portillo. Quinnipiac is playing really well.Portillo looks much calmer in the net tonight than he did friday. Friday he looked a bit wild and overplaying the play. Several times watched him go post to post and overslide right out of the net and out of position. Much more controlled tonight though.
His team was dominating. Made no sense to pull so early.Pulling the goalie with almost 4 minutes left and down by a goal is a bold strategy... And it fails miserably.
Its aggressive. If it works you’re genius. If it doesn’t you’re a dumb ass.Pulling the goalie with almost 4 minutes left and down by a goal is a bold strategy... And it fails miserably.
Michigan is having a Rochester Americans type of night
Coach O'Connell got booted at BU. I wonder if they would bring Quinn back? OR, if the would try to poach a coach like Leaman, Carvel or Hastings?
