Unpossible. That Big Mike might be as good as Lane Hutson someday.
He didn’t even beat out Cole Hutson for MVP; so big climb here. That Big Mike might be as good as Lane Hutson someday.
His attitude is amazing. Seems like he really loves the game, and that is more important than people realize. I could see him being the goalie version of Nico from an attitude perspective.
11-37-6 over the last season and a half with Omaha.
Had a sub 90% save percentage last year.
Playing on a bad team can kill a prospect, especially a goalie. Good thing he got out of there.
Sidenote: One of the 2 current netminders in Omaha is a 19 year old Jersey kid by the name of Daniel Moor. He's not an NHL prospect but I'm sure he'd like to play some college hockey for free. While playing for the Jersey Hitmen last year he posted a .924 save %. In 8 games with Omaha this season he's posting a 85% save percentage and a 6.5 GAA. That's a difficult cross to bear.
I feel like nobody in the NHL who's from NJ is a Devils fan. Only one that comes to mind is Ross Colton. Apparently John Carlson wasn't one.Not a Devils fan so he’s dead to me.
Yes, he was 10 when this 2016 article came out. And yes, I google NJ-area prospects favorite teams.
He’s going to Princeton.

I'm sure that could be amended after the Beanpot Tourney. Yegorov was stunningly good.Scott Wheeler has him #14 in his top 20 drafted goalie prospects.
"Scott Wheeler has him #14 in his top 20 drafted goalie prospects.
I know goalies aren't really your thing and they're definitely one of the trickier positions to predict but between Yegorov and Malek, they seem to have some high end goalie prospects. A far cry from the Ken Appleby, Gilles Senn types. What are your thoughts?I'm sure that could be amended after the Beanpot Tourney. Yegorov was stunningly good.
So many Hockey East goalies are already earmarked for the NHL: we drafted Yegorov last year, while Jacob Fowler of BC was drafted by the Canadians in 2023 and Phil Svedbâck of Providence by the Bruins in 2021.
Albin Boija of Maine is not yet drafted and Interesting to me (as a Black Bear fan). He's Swedish and 21 (I think but maybe 22) and is dominating hockey east right at the moment, lifting his team to number 5 nationally last weekend. As with the Russians there of course are now and have been a number of fine Swedish goalies in the NHL (Lundqvist, Ullmark and our own Markstrom come to mind).
Plus Boija has the Maine pedigree. An unusual number of Maine goalies have succeeded in the NHL:
as Jimmy Howard (15 years, 543 games), Ben Bishop (12 years 413 games), Garth Snow (13 years, 368 games) and Mike Dunham (12 years, 394 games).
I think that's quite impressive for a single college program.
I'd be very interested in what some of the posters here who watch a lot of prospects, as @StevenToddIves and @Guadana about think of Boija's prospects at this point. Worth a draft pick for someone in my eyes, I don't think he will go unclaimed in this year's draft. No team can have too much goaltending in the pipeline in today's NHL.
Albin Boija, G, Maine (20 GP, 1.55 GAA, 0.931 SV%, 0 SO)
The Swedish-born Boija took over the starting job for Maine partway through last season as a freshman and hasn’t looked back. As a sophomore, he has posted numbers that are among the league leaders. Boija attended development camp with Detroit this past offseason. Since he is a sophomore, he may need another season or two before turning pro.

Of course I can’t forget to mention Jeremy Swayman right now.
