I watched Ergo Proxy for the first time. I get it’s probably not everyone’s cup of tea but it was great. Had to google all the stuff I didn’t understand but is really a piece of art.

I wonder why it never got a cult following.

I always enjoyed it. Own the DVD set from Geneon and own the BR set as well. I was upset how few people did anything Ergo Proxy related within the next 2 or 3 years at Otakon. Not saying it was the hottest shit but it was cool.

I enjoyed it way back when. Lots of people like its opening but I doubt most of them have even watched the show

Chainsaw Man
(4 episodes)
10/10

EVERY SINGLE NECKBEARD 'FAN' who shit on MAPPA, insulted them, and even sent them death threats over AoT S4, needs too get down on their knees and and beg for forgiveness until the heat death of the universe. They also need to f*** off.

MAPPA has created a masterpiece.

The animation
The soundtrack
The VAing
The writing

Literally everything is a solid 10.

And I had no idea each episode is getting its own ED (outro). I don't know of any other property that has done this. And each one, thus far, has been an absolute banger.

Oh, and S4 of AoT is GOAT. Can't wait for the finale.

Chainsaw Man's trajectory is just a big up arrow that won't be going full speed until season 2. Hopefully the people at MAPPA last that long.
I have no idea how a company can maintain the level of production quality that exists currently, over multiple seasons.

Chainsaw Man and (to a lesser extent) JJK seem to be big investments for them. Quality takes talent but also time and they've spent years on CSM's production already.

That said I'm still surprised by the EDs. When the first episode was just a credit roll I figured "okay that makes sense they wouldn't dare animate a new ending for every episode" but here we are. On top of the songs seeming like they're also original tracks they got people to write.

I don't have problems with the quality of the animation in AoT S4, but I liked the style of Wit better. The only real problem I had was with some of the over the top facial expression, but I got over it quickly.

That being said, Chainsaw man has been amazing and Mappa has done a great job.

Seems like Mappa is also taking over Vinland Saga from Wit...

I can’t wait for Chainsaw Man & s.2 of Spy x Family to get dubbed.

I heard 86 is pretty good? I think that and mob psycho are next for me if I can the dubs.

IMO, 86 season 1 was good, and I tried watching season 2, but they introduce a certain type of character that I cannot stand that made me drop the show, other people really like it so maybe it’s just me. Mob Psycho is really good, I definitely recommend that.

Demon Slayer, Season 2 (Mugen+Entertainment) 10/10
After season 1 I found most of the Hashiras pretty over the top and thought I wouldn't like them very much. Especially Rengoku and Tengen...oh boy was I wrong. Basically every small thing that bothered me in season 1 was nowhere near in season 2. The animation in this season was really on a different level.

I'm guessing you mean Frederica? I understand what you mean, but you're really missing out. To me this show is in the top 3 with AoT and Demon Slayer from what I've watched so far.

Was really hoping there would be a Chainsaw Man announcement of some kind but that was too optimistic. Gonna bet it takes 2 years to come back.

I don't know why anybody watches shonen anymore. Everything seems so painted by numbers that you won't see anything new. Even One Piece wich has overstayed its welcome for over a decade seems to become more it generic as continues on. Not sure if this is the editors fault or I am just getting to old for this type of media.

Bocchi the Rock! has been an entertaining watch so far.

As someone who plays in bands, I felt some relation there.

Tried it out given some of what I've read but I'm admittedly new to the CGDCT slice-of-life style. Not sure how others in that subgenre may compare but holy carp I am enjoying this. Watching ep 7 as we speak.

MAPPA's animators do need to eat, go to the washroom, and see sunlight every so often.

It'll take at least a year to find the keys to the locks that keep them chained to their desks.

They won't get to do that either way because they already have 5 shows slated for 2023. They also might be doing One Punch Man season 3 which isn't announced yet.

Just got done binging an entire season in one sitting, something I haven't done for an anime in a very long time. It's been in my watch list for a while, so I know I'm a bit LTTP with it, but man oh man is The Idaten Deities something else. First off the OP is an absolute banger, with some of the most striking, trippy visuals for an opener I can recall in recent memory and a song so catchy it was an insta-add to Spotify. The anime itself presents in such a way that is extremely easy to follow from the get-go, while pacing the story and character introductions (which end up being fairly robust by season's end) in a way in which I never felt overwhelmed like, say, AoT. What could've easily been just another violent shonen anime quickly stands out with an incredibly unique art style and rotating color palate, which evolves into a twisted tale of gods, demons and geopolitical intrigue. If you go look up any promo art of this anime you would be safe in assuming with the bright, popping colors and pseudo-chibi art style that it's probably a run of the mill YA shonen, but boy you could not be more wrong...and this is where I have to place a content disclaimer. Not only is the anime extremely violent and at times excessively so, it tackles some VERY sensitive subject matter of both sexual and violent origin that completely caught me off guard. So, just a forewarning on that one.

But yeah, I could not recommend it enough. Only one season containing 11 episodes so far, but it would be a crime if we never got another. Apparently the manga has been insanely slow-going, so it may be a while until there's enough source material. I'll drop a really good breakdown of the series below, but be warned that it does contain mild spoilers:

And I'd be remiss if I didn't drop the OP as well:

Been watching here and there...

- Spy x Family: I love it, but there are some episodes which really came across as major filler and for me slowed the pace of the story quite a lot. 8/10

- Classroom of the Elite: Very good show, but there's something about a douche OP'd main protagonist which turns me off the more I watch it. 7/10

- Devil is Part-timer: Not sure what happened, but these further seasons really dropped the ball compared to the original one (way too much fan service and anime cliches). What happened is I think they spent too much time between seasons and much better shows/storylines got released. 5.5/10

- Tokyo Revengers: This is the biggest love-hate relationship I have watched in a long time. The main character takes the award away from the main protagonist of Re:Zero as the worst and most childish I have ever seen someone portrayed. The show is freaking stupid even if the concept does work, comes across as interesting at times, and I will probably continue to watch it. However, this is definitely a fast-forwarding show to get to the main storyline elements, I see it as a weak man's Durararararararaarara. 4/10

- The Way of the Househusband: What an awesome and hilarious show I came across on Netflix (which tends to have severely underrated anime). The concept is just ridiculous and I mean that in a good way. Taking a perfectionist Yakuza member and turning him into a stay-at-home wife is brilliant creativity. Love it and FTR this isn't a traditional anime, it has mini-episodes in a short main episode, it has a narrator (who only spoke Japanese), and it is not traditionally animated scene for scene. There is a lot of picture art in this, but it doesn't take away from how much I enjoyed it. 9/10

Planning on giving Assassination Classroom and Romantic Killer a chance in the near future. Moreover, Kimi ni Todoke next season is being released soon, which adds to the ridiculously good three to four months of anime we've been treated to. I also wanted to quote @oil Leaks as you mate have amazing recommendations for me.

I am still waiting for Chihayafuru season 4 which I guess they're making, but no real confirmation of it anywhere. I think they were potentially waiting for the manga to finish akin to Bleach, which it did quite recently. Another series I am not sure what the hell happened with it is Knights of Sidonia. Crazy animation to the point that it had to take many years to complete a season, but it seems like an awfully long time since season 2 ended.

Chainsaw Man was a 10/10 for me, horrible ending to leave the anime with and with no season 2 news at all to the point that they have to continue it in the future right? Mappa is brilliant in every stretch of work that I've seen, but if I do have to nitpick something, it's that their character models look weird when expressing emotion. It's like they are way too emotional at times with characters looking to be laughing really hard and crying uncontrollably. Gotta give them a lot of credit though, a brand new ending and song for every single episode is quite the dedication.

The manga for Chihayafuru was completed last summer

Finally working my way thru Chainsaw Man and I'm already at critical levels of hype watching episode 9. Shit is bananas and I'm loving every minute of it. If I have one complaint it's that the transition to 3D assets can be pretty jarring at times, especially during Denji transformation sequences, which are obviously supposed to be some of the most hype moment of the entire anime.

Anime goes Brrrrrrrrrrr from here on out. The steel block on the pedal doesn't get removed until the final panels of the manga's first part.
