That's an......interesting new look Vince McMahon has there
I am back playing Master of Orion (the original). It's a classic (4x was originally coined with this game)! A fan remade it with a modern interface called Remnants of the Precursors and did an incredible job with it.
I'm also playing a 30 years old RTS game (Dune II - known really as the first successful RTS game).
I have a few 1990's strategy games on my hit list to try out!
I hadn’t heard of that fan remake of MOO. I’ll have to check it out as that was one of my all time faves.
My boys and I are all 90s game aficionados. Dune II is a favourite as well. GOG.com FTW
Looks like a half melted wax hitlerThat's an......interesting new look Vince McMahon has there
Games I play now a days is World of Warships, Seas of Thieves, Blood Bowl 2......I play all three weekly/daily.
I've tried Civilization 6 but I'm struggling to get into it.
Thanks for the link!Remnants of the Precursors

New artwork and UI functionality without impacting the core gameplay. It is so incredibly well done. There are some modders who are really good at making the AI very challenging as well. Enjoy!
Since I am just getting back to gaming, would love to hear your recommendations on 90’s strategy (4x, RTS, grand strategy, turn based or any other categorization they come up with). I have an initial hit list would love to here other recommendations.
I did play C&C back in the day (and have picked up the remaster recently) and I also played Lords of the Realm I.Thanks for the link!
90's eras games that we have enjoyed/wasted many hours playing:
Command and Conquer
Command and Conquer: Red Alert
(NB that these two are available on Steam in a package Command and Conquer Remastered)
Chaos Gate (similar style play to the famous XCom -- squad-based turn-based combat game, this one set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, so you're commanding a squad of space marines fighting chaos marines and cultists - basically devil worshippers)
Lords of the Realm/Lords of the Realm II - excellent medieval strategy game
Blitzkreig - fun WW2 RTS
Buzz Aldrin's Race Into Space - Available for free, put together into a format playable on modern computers by fan. Can take control of either US or Soviet space program starting in the 1950s, whoever gets to the moon first wins. Very difficult game, but also really fun and interesting if you like space exploration. Also educational.
One of the best strategy games of all time.I did play C&C back in the day (and have picked up the remaster recently) and I also played Lords of the Realm I.
I will take a look at your other suggestions… thanks! BTW, I never did try X-COM: UFO Defense. Any thoughts on that?
As @Jedub said, X-COM: UFO Defence is an excellent strategy game, rightfully legendary among games of the genre. Many MANY hours spent playing that game back in high school. Personally I've very much enjoyed vanilla Civ 6 ... what DLCs and UI mods do you recommend to make it (even) better?I play Civ 6; it's much better with the extra DLCs and UI mods.
The best Civ experience is still CIV4 with eitherAs @Jedub said, X-COM: UFO Defence is an excellent strategy game, rightfully legendary among games of the genre. Many MANY hours spent playing that game back in high school. I really enjoyed the updated versions too.
