I spent the better part of 6 weeks going through the Baldur's Gate cRPGs on PC. A great use of my time, because those are still phenomenal games. Now I'm trying to decide what I want to play next. My backlog is huge, and my collection is even bigger.

Holliday was a source for stories. There was Hulk Hogan in agony with back pain, lying on the ground in The Keg restaurant in Brandon, where a waitress was asked to walk up and down the Hulkster’s spine.

Or Hogan on bass guitar as Mean Gene Okerlund sang at the Polo Park Inn’s cocktail lounge.

Or getting knocked down by Jerry Blackwell. Or the time Mad Dog Vachon fed him Ex-Lax.

Not a lot of traction in this topic. Let's drum up a little bit of business. I've been playing through The Witcher 3 recently. I played it back when it first released, but never beat it. I got bogged down in Skellige. This time I aim to beat It, thanks to the next gen update. I also need something to focus my energies on, because life has truly sucked ass lately. Would rather invest in video games as a coping mechanism instead of drugs and alcohol. At least I'll have something tangible for my time, as opposed to a dependency and a bruised liver.

Video games definitely better than booze or drugs.

My "drug" of choice as coping mechanism has long been tabletop wargames. This past weekend, I started a Blood Bowl league with my two sons, each running one or two teams with CFL theme. For those not familiar with Blood Bowl, its a turn based fantasy sports game based very vaguely off football. Here's a short video I did about it a while back:

The teams we're running:

Waaghipeg Blue Bommaz (Orc team)
Reikaiserin Outriders (Humans)
Cal'xoatl Stampedasauri (Lizard Men)
Orcawa Redblacks (Orc and Goblin team)
Mont Royale Allouettes (Imperial Nobility - Humans but different style from regular humans)

Week 1 was a 1-1 tie between the Blue Bommaz and Allouettes. No one died, but three orks were injured by my lads and Antoine Calville threw three completions.

Also running a zombie apocalypse Genesys campaign with my four older children. Doing a Fear the Walking Dead but in Canada theme. Started with a big pileup on the 401 in Ontario with some of the crash victims turning and attacking first responders and bystanders. First session ended with all four PCs being taken into police custody after killing a few turned including shooting a zombie police officer with his own gun. We'll have to see how things go for them as society deteriorates rapidly while police question them about what happened.

Blood Bowl II is pretty decent, although the AI sucks and you can only get the full experience in online leagues. I still prefer the tabletop version but of course that takes more work to model and paint your teams, and it requires dedicated BB players near you. In my case having two sons fits the bill as they paint and play.

We're also working on some old school Warhammer Fantasy Battle stuff, some Warhammer 40K (just skirmish/Armageddon stuff, can't afford $ or time-wise full armies), and some Flames of War.

Re: RPGs, I did LOTS of D&D back in the day. Really enjoying the Genesys generic gaming system. Really good mechanics that work great in any setting and give a very cinematic feel to gaming. My hat's off the the Fantasy Flight Games developers.

I love Fantasy Flight as a game designer overall. Yeh BB2 AI is weak, I play in a league vs guys around Canada. The RDG in BB2 can be annoying as hell at times, how many times in a single game can a guy fail a 83% roll, a lot at times as per the RDG in BB2 haha

Another reason why I prefer real life/tabletop games ... the dice are more normal generally.

Although yesterday's game between my two sons (Outriders/humans vs. Redblacks/Black Orcs) they both used up all their re-rolls by turn 2 or 3 of the second half. The rest of the half was VERY interesting. Blood Bowl without re-rolls can get pretty whacky and crazy.

He was an underrated wrestler, never got the push he deserved from Vince other than being a comedy jobber.
He was getting a sort of normal mid card push when he first arrived. I.E. featured in his own matches vs jobbers on tv. That transitioned into him being guy losing to all the big heels of the day. His run with Mr Perfect as the Genius was pretty funny. And at the end of the day he was one of the only people to get a televised win over Hogan during that error (84 to 93). It was only a count out win, but even that was insanely rare for a televised match. The first time I saw him was a crazy tag team cage match. Him and Savage vs the Rock n Roll Express. After the match Savage gave Ricky Morton a piledriver through a table. That was years before that was regular occurrence.
Perhaps @kanadalainen can whip up a short poem in honor of Mr Poffo ;)

Very true

I'm a big fan of the "retroclones" of D&D that have come out over the past decade (or two). Labyrinth Lord/OSRIC etc. But currently, Old School Essentials is the big one...a really nicely-presented and organized re-presentation of the classic B/X system. The books are just gorgeous.

Also, I backed the MOTHERSHIP kickstarter. Looking forward to getting that box of goodies some time this year.
