Good.

I’m looking for him to face adversity in his feud against Roman. He came in at #30 in the Rumble, eliminated a guy who was in there for over an hour. Great. Solid. He won the Rumble.

If you look at the hell Sami/KO went through over the past few years against the Bloodline, it was intense.

Cody just comes in, goes on the mic against Roman, faces Baron Corbin and a dude from Emperium since his return, and he’s supposed to immediately take the belt from Roman?

Nah. His story starts now. This is his first setback.
These are valid points.

They never should have unified the belts. It wasn't the right time.

Cody going for the WWE title for daddy is a fine enough angle but Roman wasn't the right guy to put him with and he didn't have the organic feud with Roman that Sami did.

When you're basically booking the main event of Mania a year in advance, given Roman's schedule and him having the only title, you're not allowing organic storytelling to take hold.

Do you think this was always the plan for Roman to win when triple H had full creative control or with Vince being behind the scenes things changed?

the only good thing wwe has left going is walter but watch them somehow screw that up instead of having him break honky tonk mans record and hav a 500 plus day title reign he deserves.

I never would have trusted Vince or his yes men to make this call. I never cared for HHH as a wrestler but his track record has been pretty damn good with the booking

The Cody winning the title story is great if we weren't coming off one of the greatest storylines of all time between Bloodline and Zayn/Owens.

But now I'm also thinking they should have just pulled the trigger tonight. That's 2 straight PPVs with that special heat that I don't know if they'll get anytime soon. A rematch with Zayn or Rhodes won't be the same. And it's too early to tell for Jey Uso. But still, I enjoyed it.

If you go on twitter, If you liked it then HHH booked it. If you hated it, Vince changed it.

This Mania was a HHH show, his fingerprints were all over it. I think him, Heyman, and Roman believe they are telling a story on a different level from traditional wrestling story, and they think there is more drama abd twists and turns to this

That's the tough balancing act. They had three opportunities to end the run with the big pop over the past 6 or so months. Drew in Wales, Sami in Montreal, Cody tonight.

But they want to tell this long, complex, weaving story that I assume they aren't ready to wrap up yet

Forgot about Drew. But his win would have just been for a cool UK pop. There was no real story there unlike Zayn and Cody.

I don't think WWE even knows how this reign will end.

They stapled Finn's cut shut in the ring. That's pretty hardcore
It took a while. I just assumed they quick stitched and surgical glued the shit out of it

Staples make sense too. Must have been really terrible for them to bring the match to a stop and repair, rather than let him leak until the finish. It’s not like they wrestled another 15 minutes afterward

I get the appeal of putting Cody over in that moment. It's almost Wrestlemania tradition, but unlike other obvious heel v. conquering babyface matches, there's still a ton of juice left in what the heel has to do. Roman can't go bully Jimmy and Jey if he's lost his belt too. Even if it's a long way down the road, the way Solo positioned himself when the other two were down wasn't an accident either, so there's future juice in there too. Who they choose to end Roman's run is a big decision. Cody would have been a safe and easy choice and if they flub it down the road maybe they'll regret it, but for now, I get taking the risk to finish the rest of the story.

My guess is this was always the plan. Between doing everything to make this feel like a coronation, leaking rumours of Roman taking some time off and the 1000 days thing it doesn’t feel like a late switch out to me. I think they knew what they were doing.

I'm having a hard time seeing a direction after this. Every Viable contender has been defeated. Roman is reported to want to take a break for a bit.

Jey would be a fun storyline but that doesn't feel like a WWE/Universal Title storyline, and it definitely doesn't need the title.

There is no one in NXT to call up to progress this, unless you want Bron Breakker shoved down your throat like Roman and Cena were for years.

MITB cash in? Seems like a valid course of action, but, at the same time it wouldn't be as meaningful.

People like you (and you aren't alone in here tonight) would have had Thanos win in Endgame and then said, "The MCU isn't over. There are still so many things that can do with Thanos. They're still making more movies."

I think you could say that of any babyface.

I think the problem is they're waiting for the next all-time great babyface champion to be the one to beat him, and he might have it forever if we're waiting for a generational talent.

Your suggestion of Solo is interesting but I don't know if that guy has a face bone is his body.

Yep and there's a ton of loose ends that WWE probably wants to tie with the belt too like Cena breaking the record. Cena probably wouldn't care at the end of the day but it's still something that WWE probably wants to do regardless. I haven't been into WWE in a while so I'm not even going to act like I'm this hooked into the product right now but at the same time I'm super interested to see how they end one of the best storylines ever and probably the best storyline of the past decade.

I don’t think Roman’s taking any break longer than normal, I think they intentionally leaked that. He hits 1000 days at the Saudi show, or the day after, and he wouldn’t be missing that regardless.
