it's already become boring. tonight was the time to end it but the ghost of vince mcmahon showed up to book tonight's show.
It’s become boring to you but the crowds being as hot as they’ve been for both of Roman’s last two main events tells me there’s juice. The crowd pops when Jey teased a turn a few weeks ago. It’s boring to you but the story is pretty much the most interesting thing going on right now in WWE

Who?

I would have at least bought Cody for a short run or even Sami for a big moment and then a very short run.

I don't see anybody now.

Seth has done it before. KO has been there before. Jey is even less buyable than Cody or Sami.

At this point, unless they continue to build up Cody, the guy to end this run probably isn't on the roster and it's going to get super stale.

Ambrose and Kofi are probably similar to Cody in the sense that the moment of them winning was better than their actual runs. I can see why someone would argue that against Cody but I think his story obviously resonates way more than those two guys.

They’re tuning in for this whole storyline though. Jey doesn’t need to be champion for a year but the way the Bloodline story has played out so far I have a hard time believing it just suddenly becomes boring when Jey wins.
It wouldn't be a boring angle.

Jey Uso just isn't a believable WWE Champion even for a brief pop.

Not to mention Roman vs the Uso's has been done before. It was Sami Zayn that gave the angle new life.

The crowd reaction to Jey even considering belting Roman with a chair was nuclear.

Whatever crowd gets to see Jey finally turn on him will lose its mind

I think you could say that of any babyface.

I think the problem is they're waiting for the next all-time great babyface champion to be the one to beat him, and he might have it forever if we're waiting for a generational talent.

Your suggestion of Solo is interesting but I don't know if that guy has a face bone is his body.

Well that’s a fair opinion but I’ll agree to disagree. Everyone loves an underdog story, especially one that’s been in the works for a couple of years now. Long term storytelling and booking is what we all clamour for, we’re finally getting it

Can someone explain to me Cody’s “story” ?

Please?
His dad did literally everything in pro wrestling except win the WWE Championship and Cody is trying to live up to the lofty legacy by doing the one thing his dad didn't?

Like, I think that's fine. What are we looking for in terms of story?

I'm not sure that's what they are doing at this point. At first sure, it was about building Roman up and waiting for the right guy.

Now the storyline has evolved into this different animal. I think they are trying to tell this epic story and want a poetic ending.

if you wanna see aew level ratings with jey as champion then yes you are. I know i wont be tuning in to a ppv if its jey vs roman for the belts lol.
Good.

I’m looking for him to face adversity in his feud against Roman. He came in at #30 in the Rumble, eliminated a guy who was in there for over an hour. Great. Solid. He won the Rumble.

If you look at the hell Sami/KO went through over the past few years against the Bloodline, it was intense.

Cody just comes in, goes on the mic against Roman, faces Baron Corbin and a dude from Emperium since his return, and he’s supposed to immediately take the belt from Roman?

Nah. His story starts now. This is his first setback. The story you’re mentioning can still happen, it just didn’t tonight, which it shouldn’t have.

In my opinion, the poetic ending was now.

They caught lightning in a bottle and they're going to book the bottle to face Randy Orton 34 times like they always do.

Now it's gonna be "it's Jey's fault we lost the tag titles, Jay has to prove himself" which all ground that has been covered already.

I'm actually not 100% sold on Jey ending Roman's run works either. I get the fantasy booking of it, but not sure it necessarily works in practice given the home run beating Roman has to be. Could very well be wrong, but even if he goes over, just not sure you know what you do the next night on RAW once he has the belt and needs to carry the ball for WWE.
