I mean I'm not sure about that, everyone thought there was no way that WWE wouldn't put the straps on Cody with how he's spoken about winning the belts for Dusty. Ending a title reign that's been 900 days+ after he came back earlier on his injury timeline made all the sense in the world for a change in a traditional WWE story line.

I was definitely worked. That was a legit swerve, it was shocking.

So Sami Zayn over Roman Reigns at SummerSlam in Detroit?

There's enough juice left in this Bloodline story to keep it going until the summer.

I don't know if it will be Sami, but there absolutely is enough juice in this Bloodline story to keep going. Roman is just now going to start turning on the Usos. Not only did they lose last night, they couldn't help him win tonight while Solo could.

Not boding well for the Usos moving forward.

No, I get it, but it's one of those things where it's like

Cody seemed like the obvious winner going in, yes, but at the end of the day, it's WWE booking Roman to win. It's just happened too many times to have that jaw on the floor shock value like Seth chasing in WM31 for example.

Cody deserves so much better, that was mediocre way to finish his story

Can you actually tell us what would work, and how you would book it? Can you add your actual thoughts?

So many of us go above and beyond to explain their points, you show up every 10 days and provide nothing. Much like you’ve done tonight.

How would you have booked this and why?

I honestly do see the argument that the story wasn't there yet for Cody. He was feuding with Heyman more then Roman.

It is boring.

It would be a great moment but absolutely nobody is tuning in during the weeks and months after to see WWE Champion Jey Uso.

At least Cody would have been somewhat believable in that role.
They’re tuning in for this whole storyline though. Jey doesn’t need to be champion for a year but the way the Bloodline story has played out so far I have a hard time believing it just suddenly becomes boring when Jey wins.

jey beating roman is boring lol

Hard disagree there. The cousin that Roman manipulated and has mentally abused for the better part of many years coming full circle to take him down in his 3rd attempt would be sweet.

Is it good from a business perspective? I don't know. I don't care. I don't work for the company I'm a fan and if Sami or Cody aren't taking down Roman, I'd love to see Jey do it.

Bloodline story isn't complete until Jey turns on him and his family abandons him.

There is absolutely more juice and I would guess Sami and KO aren't done feuding with the Bloodline just yet

You absolutely can build Seth up pretty easily to be the one if that's what they want to do.

They can rebuild Cody to do it now that he has hit some major adversity.

I don't believe they would put Rock in a match vs Roman with the titles on the line. The outcome would be WAY too obvious and the crowd would turn on the match in a heartbeat. Rock doesn't have that kind of sway with the fans the way he used to.
They don't care lol

It's the match they've always wanted. WWE have never cared about the crowd shitting on it getting in the way of doing the match they want. Like half Roman's Mania main events speak to that.
Babyface champions have been stale in the past because of the creative behind them turning them into good-doers instead of letting them come off as naturally charismatic. Bryan's run post-mania would have been plenty fine had he not suffered the neck injury. Obviously historical babyface champs like Austin/Rock have been a lot better but I think there is still a possibility for babyface champs to succeed if allowed to be charismatic and not overly scripted like Shield Roman.
Who?

I would have at least bought Cody for a short run or even Sami for a big moment and then a very short run.

I don't see anybody now.

Seth has done it before. KO has been there before. Jey is even less buyable than Cody or Sami.

At this point, unless they continue to build up Cody, the guy to end this run probably isn't on the roster and it's going to get super stale.

As much as i really don't like Cody that booking makes zero sense.

As a prior post pointed out, they were literally building him on some Dragon Ball chosen one shit since basically October. Once he got hurt everyone knew this was the outcome. Had him roll through the rumble, beat Solo and roll into that match with a freight train of momentum.

There is no universe where "oh we'll save it for Backlash" makes sense given what has gone on the last 6 months.

That's fair but at the same time do you really want a 900 day title reign to end without something crazy? I think it's going to be Solo either the 2004 Orton v HHH way or Solo getting the briefcase and trolling Reigns any chance he gets and cashes it next year at WM. I think tonight would've been better if say they showed Roman telling Solo to stay in the back and saying he needs to beat Cody on his own and then that ending happens.
