That was one of the worst calls I have ever seen. Stupid Slovakian Linesman.

worse than the hand-pass screw-up (they messed another one up in the italy/swiss game)... that was friggin obvious.

They had to do that to avoid getting caught cheating for the U.S. by suspicious Finns and hockey do-gooders alike. This gets the heat off their back long enough to give the game back to the U.S. :D

:biglaugh:

Of course...how silly of me.

What a pathetic call against Hatcher, high sticking. :shakehead

He never saw him and it was just a follow through with his stick

They said Mike Eruzione was in attendance today. Can we dress him up? Our Powerplay could use a guy with some finish.

Yes, the high sticking might have been a bad call but the ref compensated the US by taking Numminen for a questionable hooking.

That was legal unless the IIHF rules are different to the NHL.

A player who carries or holds any part of his stick above the height of the shoulders
and causes an injury with the stick to an opposing player shall be assessed a:
- Major penalty + Automatic Game Misconduct penalty (5’+GM)
or
- Match penalty (MP)
c) However, if the high sticking action that caused the injury was judged accidental, the
offending player shall be assessed a:
- Double Minor penalty (2’+2’)

Looks like the ref made the right call according to IIHF rules. No followthrough exception there.

Aside: Like I care the guy who made the call is Slovakian, JD and Pierre.
I believe what they were implying is that the man who made the call doesn't work in the NHL and may be less familiar with the follow-through rule. Neither of the NHL veteran refs called a penalty.

Why do we wait until we're shorthanded to start busting *** on the forecheck and get some scoring chances?

If that is the case, then the IIHF is gay....not that there is anything wrong with that...

You really think that hook was questionable? Drury would have been in all alone.

Fair enough, I know it isnt
called in the NHL on a follow through.

Now perhaps the people bashing the linesman can admit they were wrong.

Can anybody explain me the rules? There was no intention to injure Selänne, it was an accident, but is it automatically a penalty if the oppenent player get injured? I'm cheering for the Finns but this penalty was not justified I think.

How about slashing?? No offence but do you even have any idea what they can do in the rink?? LOL again.
