The hit wasn't that bad, but ruuto smiled after the hit, which was kind of sad.

Thanks for posting this here too. Now I can tell you how much bad luck I wish to you and Ruutu.

i am only showing my appretiation for ruutu. after all i am a canucks fan :(

stop being a big meeaaaannniiiieee man called sather.

The impact of the hit was clean.

It was also a charge, on a guy tied up on the boards, on a delayed penalty.

The fact that he smiles after slamming a person's head into the boards doesn't help either.

About the helmet, I've heard somewhere it's not a standard old-time Jofa 235, but it's supposedly just made to look like one but with modern materials and padding inside. Not sure if this info is correct or just rumors, but I guess it doesn't really matter, he'd be injuried no matter what helmet he'd been using in this particular case, it was a disgusting cheapshot.

Yeah right.........

I think Ruutu was smirking about Straka jumping him. Ruutu always does that after a fight or so, his way to annoy opponents. With all due respect to Straka to sticking up for his teamfight, Ruutu would drop him like a wet glove if they really went for it, and I think he was telling him just that.

This is my personal favourite from Rangers board:

:shakehead

I don't feel bad about saying it, because he tried to hurt Jagr, but maybe I went overboard. Still, I was pretty ticked and still am.

Thank you. Good statement from me I'd say. You don't throw that type of hit. His intention was to hurt Jagr, so I don't feel bad saying what I did.

His intention was probably to get Jagr all pissed off. He just managed to take him out of the game. But the fact remains, the hit itself was perfectly clean....getting cut was Jagrs own fault because he chose to play with an ancient helmet.

http://www.saunalahti.fi/kholtta/J.Ruutu.mpg I don't know, whether or not this video has been in this thread. But as you can see here, Jagr close to the board, not far away from it, so definitely not a boarding. Ruutu takes 2 kicks speed and hits Jagr perfectly. Unfortunately, that czeck primadonna goes on her knees and that was she gets hurt. Plus that her helmet is so lousy, that it doesn't give any protection.

Game was good, exciting, intense.

One controversial hit, imo looked clean, unfortunately it resulted in a hurt star. Hopefully Jagr can play tomorrow or more importantly for the Czechs, the Canada game.

Czechs scored a goal after a dive by Erat (the 2-2), if it wasn't a dive, then Lydman is the strongest man in the world. He simply picked Erat up with his stick and threw him a full 5 feet backwards.

Finland deservedly won 4-2, Niittymäki was great. He's just like Nurminen, at no time was one afraid of him in goal. He's solid and only lets in those he can't stop. L-K-S is one great line, can anybody stop them?
Finland went into the game convinced Vokoun was the Czechs weak point, and he let a few in he coulda stopped.

***, of course he should be smiling after the hit.

It was no charging, as he didn't pick up speed before
the hit, he hit cleanly on Jagr's side/under the armpit,
Jagr was idioticly keeping his head down, idioticly
played with the old JOFA and Ruutu came from the
bushes.

Bam-bam and good night. Great hit, unfortunate
accident as a result. Accidents happen. If you can't
take the heat, stay out of the kitchen. Or start
watching ladies hockey or ringette.

If someone thinks Ruutu's intention was to make Jagr
bleed, that person should have a serious conversation
between himself.

Ruutu was doing what he's good at. He delivered.

Awesome game by team Finland and especially the 1st line. Niitymäki should work on his rebounds some more, otherwise a pretty decent effort by Niitty.

It's unfortunate that all the focus is on the Ruutu hit.

I used to hate Ruutu with a passion since I am a TPS fan, and he run over one of our goalies back in the day.

But in time I slowly began to appreciate his play and how important he is to his team in the nhl. He is so good at what he does, trying to get the opposing teams stars out of balance and being a general agitator and pest. Today he's one of my absolute favourite players, and I think he's underrated. And he's no rat, he can stand up for himself if he has to.

The hit today seemed a bit unnessesary and he could definatley have tried to avoid it a little better, but I don't think it was as dirty as just about every Swede in this thread thinks it was. I believe they hold some kind of grudge against him :dunno:
I can't say I like Marcus Nilson either :)

Well, Jagr should be fine, and I hope this incident won't take the focus away from team Finlands excellent play so far.

i'm from hockeynations..com and we contacted someone within the rangers org. and they said he did not suffer a concussion. he just suffered a cut above the left eye. the rangers org. is also very mad about the hit.
