So we're all agreed? Pat Parris' greasy hair and small sports intellect needs to go somewhere else?

I hate the guy. IF you're a Cards and Blues fan like myself, then you would probably pay to ship this idiot to Beirut.

Pretty much this haha.

All he does is read of the teleprompter.. and he can barely do that

Does it? So if we were to trade Perron for Pavelski straight up, which many Sharks fans have agreed is fair, that makes our offense generation worse? Interesting.

It doesn't make it better seeing as Perron is younger and has more points on the year. There again, Pavelski is more of a St. Louis style player in that people will celebrate his grit and ignore the fact that Perron is the more talented creative player. But, ok, let's pay a guy more money to put up the same or worse offense as Perron.

LOL let me know when Perron has a 60 point or 30 goal season like Pavelski. Is this a serious post? Not to mention Joe can actually play defense.

People actually pay attention the post and intermissions? I learned to mute that years ago.
Yeah, that would be nice, but Im not blind to this guy's irritating lack of knowledge combined with his greasy smile after every loss. Muted or not, I can sense what he's reading off the teleprompter.

Also, I wouldnt mind some actual in depth analysis after the game from someone who knew what they were talking about. If you have to mute the TV, then the presenters arent worth a ****.

He's a clown, a news presenter. Totally fake and without any type of actual connection to these teams besides a paycheck. I want real. Sorry for the rant, its been bothering me since I first seen this moron.

Perron's pace after coming back from injury last season would have eclipsed 30 goals and 60 points. His offensive production is also trending upward. Again, he is also more than a couple years younger. Finally, if Perron couldn't play defense, I doubt Hitchcock would ever use him on the penalty kill. Perron may not be as good defensively as some on the team, but he isn't a liability as you suggest.

Perron can easily score 60 points in a season, probably even 70-80. The problem is health. He's one (if not the most) talented forward on the Blues

Perron isn't our problem.

I'm ready to give up on the Berglund experiment, however. If he turns into a stud after we trade him...so be it. That just seems to be the Blues luck.

Agree 100%. Pat is 100% tool.

I really think that if someone edited his teleprompter Anchorman-style, he would fall for it.

Perron might be a village idiot, but he is undoubtedly one of the most important and creative forwards on this team.

Cant give him up unless the right player or package comes back. People forget that he's still a young kid.

Talent =/= execution. I will believe it when I see it. i would take joe pavelski over perron 8 days a week. Especially when our top 2 centers our berglund and backes.

Couple of thoughts:

We are clearly not good enough right now to play for the Stanley Cup. There is no way we beat the Kings in a 7 game series as we stand today. I think we -could- beat the Kings if someone (Goalie, Scorer) gets super hot and puts us on his back, but we can't expect that to happen. If we play them in a "normal" series, we lose. I don't even want to think about what the Penguins would do to us.

That said, I didn't think we played too bad overall. The Steen-Backes-Oshie line played well (Oshie's one egregious turnover not-withstanding.) They were dangerous on offense and for the most part shut down the big line of LA. The Perron-Sobi-Tank line looked really good too, scoring both of our goals (Perron's one dumb penalty not-withstanding.) Perron deserves credit, he played a -much- more North-South/simple game after the meeting. When your top two lines only do two poor things (that really stick out) all game, especially against a team like the Kings, that's pretty good. The 4th line put in a regular 4th line performance, superior to what other teams 4th lines usually do, but not overall game changers.

Then we get to the AMac-Berglund-Stewart line. This line, AMac in particular, was horrible. In fact, I'd be willing for the most part to give Berglund and Stewart a pass for this game, but AMac's play was inexcusable. There's a reason he was a -4 tonight. For a guy who's a veteran, and the only guy with a Cup ring on our entire roster, (Not counting IR) having just had a huge closed door meeting about playing better and everyone doing their job, this was the worst game he could have played. I'm almost wondering if he wants to get traded/retire at this point. The second and third goals, while imo were more on Halak just being Halak (get to him in a second) both could have EASILY been avoided if AMac had given 1/2 a **** about playing defense. I called him out on it after the first period, and he actually got even worse. The second goal, he was right there to help our Dman out, but he just stands there and watches them swordfight with their sticks, then watches Lewis pop a shot in without even reaching out his stick at all. The third goal, he at least follows Richards back on D, but then just falls over instead of actually trying to stick his man, which is why Richards got about 3 whacks at that puck. Simply inexcusable. If I'm Doug Armstrong, I'm calling everyone on the East Coast, and also the Ducks to see what I can get for this washed up has-been.

Halak had a regular Halakian performance. He made some decent saves, especially at the end of the second period off a rebound of his. However, he flopped around like a fish, didn't control a single rebound, and looked totally unable to track the puck. He also let in a total crap 2nd goal, and a moderately crap 3rd goal. You could argue that the net pushed his skate off, but if he hadn't slid/flopped around he wouldn't have just had his skate in the way. Not to mention that I don't buy a net jangling on it's moorings as enough force to prevent a man with supposedly decent leg strength to lose a seal. In the end though, it's the same story with Halak: Makes some decent saves, let's in some meh goals, doesn't give anyone confidence that he's really The Guy, and seems to be Just A Guy.

Our D played well for the most part. AP and Shatty clearly took the message of playing within yourself to heart. Neither of them did anything egregious.

Final thought: This team is truly going nowhere until we can spend money. Our core, for the most part, is fine. But we -need- to fill the holes we need to fill, b/c at this time, we're just not going to compete with the best the NHL has to offer. It's that simple.

With Minnesota and Chicago coming up, this could easily turn into the Blues' second 5-game losing streak of the season.

I just hope Armstrong doesn't make any rash decisions based on panic. This team won't do anything this year. Take time in the off-season, make a plan, and go through with it.

Did you watch last season at all? 21 goals (42 points) in 57 games. Imagine what he could do over a healthy 82 games

We have just 8 games where we should win the rest of the season. Undoubtedly we will lose at least 2 or 3 of those, which means we are going to have to beat some very good teams in order to sneak into the playoffs, and get demolished by Chicago. Joy.

Over Perron's last 89 games he has scored at a pace that would translate to 27.6 goals and 30.4 assists over an 82 game season. Yeah, you are right, he is all potential no production. Also, he is still 24 years old.

Agreed, there isn't too much out there anyway. It doesn't help being a cap team with so many of our core players being RFA.

Sorry to burst your bubble but not only is that a cherry picked, small sample, it is only a .736 PPG pace which amounts to around 60 points. Pavelski has done that twice. What is your point here? Perron is 24 now, he isn't this rising prospect anymore. At a certain point in career development, what ya see is what ya get.

And last season Pavelski had 30 goals and 30 assists in 82 games which, in 82 games (i am sure you can do the math) averages out to 31 goals and 30 assists in 82 games. Last time i checked that is higher than any production I have ever seen from perron.

His production is not trending upward, look at his stats this season.

Pavelski is already 28 whereas Perron is only 24 and already producing at a 60 point rate. I don't get why you would trade Perron for Pavelski
